Meet Believe's Marq Dollentes
CEBU, Philippines – Aside from being one of the featured artists in "Believe," indie actor Marq Dollentes also co-directs the pop musical which will have its world premiere in Cebu City on July 24 and 25.
Wearing two hats in this production comes easily to Marq whose multi-media talents include singing, writing songs and poetry, acting, directing and producing.
Calling himself an Expressionist, Marq has appeared in two acclaimed independent hit movies "Compound" and "Sa Pagdapo ng Mariposa." For the latter film, Marq co-wrote the theme song with Keith Martin called Let's Play (the Game of Life) which is performed in the soundtrack of the album by Isabella and Keith Martin.
On stage, this talented artist has performed and directed several corporate shows produced by the One World of Music and Light showcasing some of his brilliant and popular colleagues of theater and screen. Marq is also now putting together and recording his first album due later this year.
Offstage, Marq is travelling extensively with Kuh Ledesma as Program Manager for her different shows such as the recent North American and New Zealand concert tours of the resoundingly successful Divas 4 Divas.
This is what Marq himself has to say about his involvement in "Believe." "I grew up in a far off town of Victorias in Negros Occidental. At five years old, I got my first taste of what it's like to be onstage when I played Snow White's favorite dwarf in a school play called 'Dreamland.' The story of the play was about several fairy tale characters coming to life and interacting with each other.
"Since then, I longed to perform and sing and dreamed that one day I would be able to perform with brilliant singers and musicians all over the world.
"I am so grateful that no matter how far the town I grew up in the Philippines was, God's grace gave me the faith to somehow follow my heart and pursue my dreams and make them a reality. Yes, I BELIEVE fairy tales do come true. I BELIEVE in the impossible. I BELIEVE."
"Believe," the pop musical is co-presented by One World of Music and Light and KAHAYAG Network of Cancer Support Groups with the latter as the beneficiary. Show dates are on July 24 and 25 at Onstage Cinema One of Ayala Center.
