For Christine Reyes, one of the worst intrigues she faced in the year 2008 was her transfer between two giant networks in the Philippines.
However, that controversy paved her way to soar to greater heights in her show business career—in the Kapamilya network.
Christine attested that being a Kapamilya is “okay na okay at happy.” She added that her skills also improved. “Na-boost ang acting ko.”
In less than a year, she nabbed the lead role in the primetime soap, Eva Fonda, and was cast in the Saturday comedy sitcom Banana Split.
Because of Eva Fonda’s sexy content, people have questioned why it was placed in the primetime slot. Christine defended that the teleserye is shown late at night and so most children are already asleep.
“Pero kung nakakapanood man sila, sagot na sila ng mga magulang nila. Hindi ko naman po kontrolado yun,” she explained.
Christine said that, in certain ways, she could see herself in the lead character. “Yung pagiging palaban niya sa buhay na kahit ano mang tragedies at controversies sa buhay niya, lumalaban pa rin ako,” she shared.
Christine balances her sexy teleserye with a comedy sitcom, playing one of the girls in Banana Split along with Valerie Concepcion, Roxanne Guinoo and Angelica Panganiban.
She describes her Banana Split experience as very different since it is “light, not heavy drama.”
“Masaya kasi kasama ang mga girls. Para lang kaming nag-laro-laro. Asaran lang kami,” she said, denying that there is no competition between them.
This year 2009, Christine looks forward to more projects. In the pipeline is another solo teleserye and a photoshoot for a magazine. One thing that she really hopes to do is a movie with Star Cinema and the chance to work and be paired with some of the talented young actors of the Kapamilya network.
Christine, who described her lovelife as zero owing to her busy career, said when asked on who she’d like for a leading man, “Kahit sino ka-loveteam, okay na. Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz. Magagaling naman sila.”
