The Sugbo TV, the official television program of the Cebu Provincial Government, is now being aired over NBN USA, Canada, Japan and soon in the Middle East.
The pilot airing of the program via satellite started last December, according to program director Publio Briones.
“The airing over foreign lands is free of charge. They saw our programming and they like it so they decided to air it,” said Briones.
The bigwigs from RCTV and Blue Info TV and Governor Gwendolyn Garcia already signed a contract.
With the signing of the agreement, viewers will see Sugbo not just with the National Broadcasting Network (NBN). RCTV is in Channel 36 while Blue Info TV is Channel 45 of SkyCable.
Under the agreement, it provides that the television networks will air “Sugbo,” a 30-minute show, four times a day, for only P25, 000 a month.
The Sugbo TV is a news magazine television program designed to inform the public, especially constituents of the Province, about Capitol’s projects, plans and programs of government.
It also aimed at promoting transparency, giving the public updates about projects and programs of the Cebu Provincial Government so the people would know that the government is working for them.
Focusing only on developmental news that is not being highlighted by mainstream media, Sugbo TV is in line with the governor’s thrust of giving messages of hope. “[I] hope that this will infect the rest of the Visayas and the country with the same optimism, sense of pride and passion,” she said, adding that the program will showcase the best of Cebu that Cebuanos can be proud of.
