Pinoy Sole Survivor JC Tiuseco to join KC-Richard starrer?

- Ricky L. Calderon -

Controversial star Marian Rivera, Pinoy Survivor winner JC Tiuseco, Nadine Samonte, PJ Valerio, aspiring singer Lemuel Santos, Marvin Kiefer (host of new TV5 show “FLO”) and the all-male vocal trio Next Gen were among the celebrities who attended the Christmas party of the Entertainment Press Society, the group that gives out the Golden Screen Awards. The party was held Sunday at the Baliwag Grill located at E. Rodriguez Avenue corner Balete Drive, Quezon City.

Also gracing the party was Dante Mendoza, the Gawad Urian winner as Best Director for the movie “Tirador” and likewise a Best Director nominee at the Golden Screen Awards for the movie “Tirador” and “Foster Child.” Also in the party was Dinno Erece, the scriptwriter of “Manay Po” and “Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah.”

It was a fun night for the members of the Entertainment Press Society and we would like to thank our friends from showbiz who donated cash prizes and raffle items to make the event more memorable and fun-filled. These included the 32-inch plasma TV donated by John Lloyd Cruz which served as the party’s grand prize. As the showbiz saying goes: “Walang umuwing luhaan.”

Marian raffled off four P5000 cash prizes and a check worth P10,000. It was Marian herself who drew out the prize winners. Marian said it was the first Christmas party for the press people that she attended and she even for quite some time, taking time to thank each member of ENPRESS for their support.

On behalf of ENPRESS (of which yours truly is president), we would like to express our sincerest thanks to Marian for gracing our Christmas party. She was warmly received by all the members. Despite her busy schedule and a fractured foot notwithstanding, Marian’s presence certainly made us all very happy.

While enjoying the party, some press members couldn’t help but shoot questions at Marian, especially the issue regarding her and Karylle, what with the latter’s famous smile that made Marian shed buckets of tears at the presscon of “Desperadas” last week. She gamely answered all the questions but she declined to comment any further on the issue involving her and Karylle since she believes she had addressed the issue already.

Before leaving Baliwag Grill, Marian obliged with the requests of the customers (and employees as well of Baliwag Grill) who wanted to take pictures with her. Marian has two film entries in the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival – the comedy “Desperadas” and the horror flick “Shake, Rattle and Roll X” where she topbills the Nieves episode.

Pinoy Survivor grand winner JC Tiuseco was one of the earliest to arrive at the ENPRESS Christmas party last Sunday. And like a bowl of sugar that attracted a group of ants, JC was an instant hit among the members of ENPRESS, some of whom he met just that evening.

Everyone didn’t want to miss out on the chance to have a picture taken with the good-looking and soft-spoken Pinoy Sole Survivor. We even went a step further by engaging JC in a short interview while he was having a light dinner. “I’m on diet,” he said while talking to us and fellow ENPRESS members Nitz Miralles and Lito Manago.

JC’s demeanor is very pleasant. Aside from being good looking, he’s also very fun to talk to and very accommodating even if we bothered him while eating. He expressed elation when told he was being considered for a role in next year’s KC Concepcion-Richard Gutierrez film project for GMA Films to be directed by Joel Lamangan.

“Masarap na makasama roon kasi tiyak na magandang experience iyon for me. I am sure marami akong matutunan in case matuloy ang participation ko sa pelikula,” said JC, adding that nothing much has changed in his personality since he joined and won Survivor Philippines. But the exposure in the show made him, and the rest of the castaways, nevertheless, popular with the people.

When JC and several castaways decided to go to Star City to unwind, they got the surprise of their lives when they got mobbed by the people, who could hardly contain their excitement after seeing JC and other castaways in the flesh.

“Sabi nga namin, lesson learned. Hindi pala kami dapat pumunta sa ganoong klaseng lugar kasi makaka-attract kami ng attention. Nakakahiya rin naman sa ibang tao kung makaistorbo ang aming presence. Kaya huwag na muna pumunta sa Star City, lalo nitong mga panahon na ito dahil tiyak na kukuyugin kami ng mga tao,” said JC with a smile.
