Head over heels in love with Anime and Otaku? Come one, Come all! It will be another day of otaku, anime and fandom as University of the Philippines Bagsik Organization hosts another Otaku Fest this year.
Otaku Fest 2.0 will be held this December 13, 2008, from 1:00-9:00 p.m. at the UP Grounds. There will be bands and definitely more activities to cater to the different interests of the participants.
“Otaku Fest seeks to be a celebration of geekdom in all its forms. Otaku is Japanese for homebody, colloquially used for people who do not have lives,” Project Organizer Ara Chawdhury explains.
However, the term Otaku has been associated closely with interests inclined towards anime, manga and the like. Thus, it won’t be a surprise when Otaku Fest 2.0 will be a fun-filled gathering of anime fans, manga lovers and cosplayers from around Cebu.
The activities include On-the-spot Poster Making Contest, Logo making Competition, Digital Photography, Dance Competition, Costume Play, DOTA competition. Prizes will be given out for each of the competitions.
“Otaku Fest 2.0 will give the participants a more Japanese feel: from the logo to the environment. There will be more events like workshops and mini-concert,” Project Head Camille Travilla stressed.
Everyone is invited. UPians will be free of entrance charge. General Admission is at 50 pesos – this includes free film showing and free workshop.
For participants of different competitions, the registration fees are as follows: for individual cosplayers, the registration fee is at 150 pesos. For group cosplayers, it will be at 1200 pesos. DOTA players will pay their registration at 300 pesos per group. Dancers will have to pay 500 pesos per group. Participants for the Digital Photography competition will also have to pay a fee of 100 pesos. There will be no registration fee for the logo design competition and the Poster-making competition.
