It was an evening of world-class entertainment as three of the country’s internationally acclaimed artists combined talents for an evening of beautiful music and some contagious movements.
In addition to great shopping experience, Ayala Center Cebu opens its Terraces which is home to some of the city’s premier dining destinations and promises to be the next venue to grand musical events. For its soft launch, the mall pooled in three of the country’s exceptional performers—heartthrob Billy Crawford, London-based theatre actress Joanna Ampil and Cebuano-Australian performer Rowena Vilar.
The threesome opened with a musical number that showcased their musical prowess and knack to regale a crowd. Crawford followed with his solo act, who by the way surprised me with his vocal ability. Here, all the while he was delved into hip-hop but he carried out pop-ballads with ample versatility. Of course screams and shrieks from the female fans were audible throughout his performances. Though her Mariah Carey sweep was a little lackadaisical leaving spectators shortchanged, Ampil regained stature with her interpretation of Dreamgirls’ Listen. A Broadway repertoire, which everyone expected, could have hailed her on that world-class pedestal. Instead, her experiment with pop music proved that crossing over to mainstream music should remain an unchartered territory for the thespian.
On the other hand, it was Vilar who put on quite a show! The sexy Aussie, whose last theatrical revue down-under was co-starring Hollywood star Hugh Jackman, captured audiences with her stunning play of the Pussycat Dolls’ greatest hits. Yes, she can dance, sing and act! This triple-threat diva is certain to make a mark in the Philippine entertainment industry.
Congratulations to the Ayala Center Cebu and welcome all to the Terraces!
