Kris Aquino determined to make marriage work

plus: ‘Pinoy Fear Factor’ contender in video scandal; Indie actor Coco Martin crosses over to TV

When Kris Aquino interviewed Gabby Concepcion two Sundays ago on The Buzz, it was obvious that she didn’t like the way the actor dragged her name into some of his answers. She noted that Gabby did it several times during the entire interview. While she herself said that she shouldn’t be offended or let that stance of Gabby affect her, Kris countered she’s also a wife and that she was just putting herself in the shoes of Gabby’s wife, Gimby.

Since she got married, Kris had been careful not to mention anything about her past. That’s why she felt Gabby should have been more careful not to drag her name. As for her, Kris had never mentioned anything about her past as a sign of respect for her husband, James Yap. She also didn’t want Gabby’s wife to feel upset.

“Player ang asawa ko. Ayokong hinihiyawan siya ng mga kalaban na Gabby! Gabby! Kasi na-experience ko noong nag-uumpisa pa lang kami na may mga evil people na hinihiyawan siya na Joey! Joey! So ganoon. Kaya sabi ko talaga I won’t put my husband in an awkward situation. Yun lang kasi unfair. Kasi hindi niya nakaraan. Nakaraan ko so kaya kong ikontrol, ikokontrol ko at manahimik talaga ako,” she told the press who interviewed her during the break.

Kris admitted that she can’t be the perfect wife. For her to consider herself as perfect, Kris said it means waking up early in the morning to prepare breakfast for her husband while he readies to go into practice. For James to be able to leave early in the morning, Kris would have to wake earlier than usual.

Kris is trying her best to keep the marriage with James work. After all, she’d like to follow the examples of her sisters whose marriages are intact, and have lasted for a long long time.

We had an interview with Coco Martin, one of the stars of ABS-CBN’s “Tiny Tony” where he plays some sort of kontrabida to its lead star portrayed by John Prats. This is the second assignment for Coco at the ABS-CBN turf. First is the still ongoing “Ligaw na Bulaklak.”

In getting these two assignments from ABS-CBN, Coco credited the movies that he did in the indie film circuit (he is considered as “Prince of the Indie”). He believes that the TV people got interested in him because of his body of work in the indie film scene. Most of them were critically-acclaimed, like his first solo starrer “Masahista” which won for him the Best Performer Award from the Young Critics Circle in 2003. Said film also won as Best Film at the Locarno Film Festival.

His latest movie was “Serbis” which was directed by Dante Mendoza (who also directed “Masahista”). “Serbis,” chosen as official Philippine entry to the Cannes Film Festival, gave Coco another exposure at the international film festival where he had the chance to attend the Red Carpet premiere of the controversial film that is also earning plaudits for some of its stars. Gina Pareño won best actress in the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival of Asian-Pacific Countries held in Vladivostok, Russia which was held last September. Said film also won for Dante the Best Director award.

“I was surprised with my role in ‘Tiny Tony’. I know it is supposed to be a show for kids but when I was taping scenes, I asked my director why was he giving me dramatic moments? Kahit na comedy ‘yung palabas, iba naman ang atake ko sa role kasi may drama sa karakter ko,” said Coco who was very happy to be part of “Tiny Tony” where he plays Pen Medina’s adopted son.

“John Prats is his favorite that’s why I feel sore at my father. When they invented a formula that could reduce cancer cells, I connived with my father’s nemesis to steal the formula to discredit John. But in the process, my father died,” said the actor.

After his falling out with his former manager Noel Ferrer, Coco hasn’t gotten the services of a new manager to chart his career. He just asks for guidance from well-meaning friends like Ed Instrella (the manager of Jaclyn Jose, Gardo Versoza, Cherry Pie Picache) and Direk Dante also. As long as he’s doing okay even if he’s doing it on his own, Coco has no plans yet of getting a new manager.

“I am doing as a sign of respect to Tito Noel. Hindi naman kami nagkahiwalay dahil ayaw ko na. Nagkaroon lang kami ng misunderstanding. Dumadaan naman iyan sa lahat ng talent and manager relationships. Tito Noel helped me a lot. I got these two shows from ABS-CBN because of Tito Noel and I am very grateful. He really pushed me and vouched for me so I get good projects on TV,” he explained.

Pinoy Fear Factor cute boy Jose Sarazola has a sex video and as expected, a gay was the one who discovered it. It was first posted on the Internet last March 2008 as Jose S.

This is not the first time a contestant in a reality show was discovered to have a sex video, or a scandalous video for that matter. If you recall, EJ Falcon, the PBB Teen 2 Big Winner, also had a sex video. Although it was promptly denied by EJ’s camp, it was hard to believe it wasn’t him because of the obvious resemblance.

Looks like Jose Sarazola is not saint either. If you’d see his video, it seemed pretty obvious he was really posing for the camera. And bared his all for the camera, as if it was all for show. And he did show everything. The question now is, will he admit that it’s him?
