Miss Silka Cebu 2008: Celebrating Beautiful Skin

Beautiful skin takes center stage with Miss Silka Cebu 2008 pageant on November 15, 2008, 7pm at the new ACT Gym, P. del Rosario, Cebu City.

For the first time in Cebu, Miss Silka Cebu 2008 looks for young ladies who personify the Silka beauty.

 “It is our first time to hold the pageant in Cebu. We know there is so much to discover here in Cebu, knowing that Cebuanas are beautiful,” said Jay Legason, District Sales Manager for Visayas of Cosmetique Asia, makers of Silka products.

The 20 ladies who will vie for the title will be judged according to skin (20%), beauty (20%), brain (15%), talent (15%) and votes (30%). Every Silka product serves as one vote.

“The pageant is aimed at promoting beauty of skin through our product. I think Silka is the first cosmetic product to conduct a beauty pageant,” Hipolito Godinez, Jr, Sales Supervisor of Basic Essentials, distributor of Silka products, stressed.

Prior to the coronation night, a talent showcase will be done on November 8, 2008, 3pm at the Entertainment Area of Elizabeth Mall.

“It’s not going to be a usual pageant. Instead, it will be like a mini-fashion show. It would really be a selection of the beauty of skin. Most candidates are fresh and new as well,” pageant director Lemuel Rosos said.

The 20 candidates are Airene Juros, Alicezandra Sommerauer, Chery May Mercarder, Ely Rose Angcon, Jennibeth Delfin, Katrina Ramos, Lydwina Denson, Marianne Hernandez, Marjorie Gajudo, Mighty Jarina, Ryza Dublin, Stephanie Cummings, Vida Amor Ybanez, Felrose Acenas, Joanne Ocampo, Nina Marie Agustin, Grethel Mary Ponce, Jolina Ylaya, Maroul Gines, Aida Cordova.

During the press conference last October 17 at Alta Cebu Garden Village Resort, Cordova, Cebu, the candidates were asked as to how they would be able to help in the promotion of the product once they win the crown.

Contrary to the common answers of “telling them to buy the product” and “showing them how effective Silka is,” one answer stood out from the rest.

“I’ll be a business dealer of Silka products. I will sell them that way I can help Silka products increase sales,” Mighty Jarina, 19, answered.

The chosen Miss Silka Cebu will win P20,000 in cash. The first runner-up gets P15,000, the second runner-up will have P10,000, the third runner-up will receive P5,000 and the fourth runner-up will get P3,000.
