Karylle, Dingdong: Is it really over?

- Ricky L. Calderon -

People are still buzzing about the rumored breakup of Dingdong Dantes and Karylle. Many are particularly perplexed with the answers given by Dingdong in his interviews. Take last Sunday, for example. When he was asked regarding the whereabouts of Karylle during his interview at Showbiz Central, the matinee idol simply said, “I don’t know.”

The rumored breakup of Karylle and Dingdong is indeed a hot item and this was the conversation piece at the party of a lady movie scribe, which we attended last Sunday at Centerstage Bar in Timog (which is owned by both Karylle and Dingdong). What’s odd was that both of them gave conflicting statements to the members of the press. Dingdong supposedly got mad when Karylle granted an interview to clear the issue. He reportedly said that he and Karylle should be together when giving out statements.

We didn’t see Dingdong at the party so most of the press people who were present reckoned that the actor was probably avoiding the press so he won’t be asked about the issue involving him, Karylle, and Marian Rivera, who is being blamed as the reason why the romance of Karylle and Dingong went sour.

On our way home, we chanced upon Dingdong at the stairway of the Centerstage Bar, talking to somebody on his cellphone. It was already 1:30 a.m. We greeted him briefly and then proceeded on our way home. We learned later that he came from a meeting and that explained why he arrived late at the party.

Alfred Vargas is coming out with a sexy calendar for next year. If you recall, some two years back, the award-winning actor came up with a sexy pictorial for a coffee table book that became a hit. Since then, many had been clamoring for a followup. So to answer the clamor, a sexy calendar is in the offing.

If the timetable was followed, Alfred should be busy right now doing the pictorial with sought-after photographer Ronnie Salvacion for the upcoming calendar, granting they have already scouted for a suitable location.

The target release of the calendar is this November. The project is jointly being undertaken by Alfred and Walker Underwear, of which the actor is an image model.

The actor is very happy being a part of “Dyesebel” which ended Friday on GMA 7. Although he is quite sad that the series is over, Alfred is truly happy to have been given the chance to be in the top-rating series topbilled by the controversial tandem of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.

“I got a good role as Erebus and it got me endeared to the fans. Kasi importante rin ang role ko sa series,” he said.

He added that “Dyesebel” counts as one of his favorites among the shows he did in the Kapuso network, including “Encantadia” and the afternoon soap ‘Muli” which was shot in Malaysia.

He doesn’t know yet what would be his next project on primetime TV. But he’s part of the cast of “Una Kang Naging Akin” on the afternoon block. He has, however, received word that his next project on primetime TV is already being readied.

Alfred is planning to take a short vacation to recharge his energy and he’s going to watch the Manny Pacquiao-Oscar dela Hoya fight in Las Vegas this November. He said this is biggest fight of Pacquiao and he wants to witness this live in Las Vegas.

John Lapus had prosthetics fitting for the new series “Luna Mystica” last Monday, in preparation for the story conference of the forthcoming GMA 7 program. The story conference will be held on Thursday at the GMA 7 studios.

But John will still be a part of “Totoy Bato,” the show that marks the first TV series to feature Robin Padilla and Regine Velasquez together. If he will have his way, John said that he’d rather be in “Totoy Bato”. “If ever my services are already needed in the Robin-Regine series, I’d ask the production staff to kill my character in ‘Luna Mystica.’”

“Anything can happen in a teleserye,” said Sweet, who added that he thinks Regine will need him in “Totoy Bato” because he will be playing the role of Regine’s gay manager or handler so he is required to appear with her all the time (as the character calls for it).
