Lorna Tolentino: 'I'm too old for network war'

Lorna Tolentino cleared reports that she’s moving from GMA to ABS-CBN. “There’s nothing final yet. I have the contract of GMA and I am still awaiting the contract from ABS-CBN. Then I will discuss the terms with Nanay Lolit (Solis, her manager) before we make the final choice,” said LT at the presscon for PLDTmyDSL which took her as endorser.

If ever she makes the switch, Lorna said it should not be taken to mean that she harbors ill feelings towards the Kapuso network. “At this point, I am not part of the network war. I guess I am too old for that,” the actress added.

Besides, she worked for two years for Channel 2 where she did “Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay” and she worked for three years with GMA. She doesn’t believe the Kapuso network would take it against her if she decides to seek professional growth elsewhere. But Lorna said she won’t make a haphazard decision. She will study the contracts first and then consult her manager before making the choice.

Given the choice, Lorna would want to do a celebrity talk show, not a showbiz talk show. She also would like to do a sitcom as a breaker if ever she would be offered a teleserye. She’s in the dark as to the supposed plan of ABS-CBN to cast her as the mother of Ryan Agoncillo in the TV remake of “Pieta.”

Queenie Padilla, the daughter of Robin Padilla, shed tears while performing at “Concert for A Cause” held at the Music Museum last week. She was the guest of Datu Khomeini (The Voice of Unity), dubbed as the King of Moro Songs.

She nearly didn’t finish her number as tears fell down from her eyes. Aside from the fact that she was touched by the presence of her father Robin (who came to watch the show and caused a commotion in the audience when he arrived), Queenie said she was deeply affected by the sad plight of Muslim children who could not go to school after being displaced by the fighting in Mindanao.

“Queenie really loves to sing but she only sings for a cause, especially for the young children who are the victims of war,” said Direk Deo J. Fajardo, Jr. who invited us to watch Queenie perform.

When we got to talk to Queenie backstage, she said singing is her passion and she hopes to make a career as a singer.

In its first week of airing, TV5 has become the No. 3 channel nationwide.  This is according to the AGB Nielsen Media Research data on National Urban Television Audience Measurement.
