‘Kapitan Boom’ star swings by Metro Gaisano stores

The hunky lead star of ABS-CBN’s fantaserye “Kapitan Boom” breezed through the different Metro Gaisano stores in Cebu—Metro Ayala, Metro Colon and Metro Mandaue—as celebrity guest during the store chain’s “Shop Cebu Sale” last June 13 – 15, 2008.

The 24-year-old Filipino-Irish Jon Avila (Jonathan dela Cruz Mullaly in real life) serenaded Metro shoppers last June 14 with a couple of songs, including the Ronnie Liang hit ballad Hiling.

Jon started out as a model before entering show business early last year as member of Star Magic’s stable of talents. He shot to prominence following a stint in the second celebrity edition of the ABS-CBN reality show, “Pinoy Big Brother.” Aside from “Kapitan Boom,” he is a regular on “ASAP ‘08” and is part of a group of the Kapamilya network’s hottest showbiz hunks called Coverboys.

According to Metro Gaisano marketing supervisor, Ramon “Bong” Miagan, they featured Jon as celebrity guest due to requests of shoppers as well as of the Cebu media. He also noted the warm reception during the mall tour as indicative of the actor’s fast-growing fan base among Cebuanos.

Jon’s latest Cebu visit ended with a mini-presscon held at Metro Ayala’s Metro Café.
