TV host Joaquin Valdes goes for 100% adventure
Joaquin Valdes, the newest “100% Pinoy” host, feels so blessed to have joined his new television family, GMA 7. He said that to be in the field of news and current affairs via “100% Pinoy” is a great opportunity to (re) discover the beauty of the country.
Before transferring to GMA 7, Valdes was one of the hosts in the now-defunct Studio 23 morning program, “Breakfast.”
How he got into “100% Pinoy”, he said: “They asked me to audition, and so I went. Sa awa ng Diyos, I was very lucky because I was chosen to be the male host for the “100% Pinoy”.”
Valdes, who at the age of 23 is the youngest in the “100% Pinoy” team, said that “dream job ko po talaga ito kasi I really do love hosting.”
Adding excitement to his new TV assignment is the experience of co-hosting it with beauty queen-turned-TV host Miriam Quiambao. He described his hosting partner: “[She’s a] very interesting conversationalist. In our show, lifestyle ang sa kanya while sa akin naman yong adventure.”
It helps also that Valdes is a big fan of traveling. He named his favorite destination. “I like going back to

Valdes is a Film and AudioVisual Communication degree holder from the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He is also theater guild member.
When asked if he has plans to try film and TV acting, he said, “I’m open but mas gusto ko mag-direct kasi mas gusto kong mahasa sa film directing.”
“As of now, I really want to explore the whole news and public affairs first before engaging into acting,” added Valdes, who looks up to Direk Mike De Leon.
Prying into his personal life, it was discovered that he is still single, but is open to dating and meeting new friends.
Asked to enumerate showbiz crushes, he said, “Iza Calzado. Siya yong babaeng na-stun talaga ako. Si Miriam, no bias but para sa akin hindi ka magsasawang tingnan ang mukha niya, grabe sobrang ganda. Lastly, si Marian Rivera. If you look at her, parang gumaganda ng gumaganda siya.”
