One teleserye after another for Dina Bonnevie
STAR CIRCUIT By Ricky L. Calderon
Dina Bonnevie and Coney Reyes are two women who figured prominently in the life of comedian-TV host Vic Sotto. Dina was Vic’s former wife while Coney bore a child by Vic. The latter was also believed as the reason why Vic and Dina parted ways.
Both of them are both doing TV shows for ABS-CBN (Dina’s in “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos?,” while Coney’s in “Ysabella”), Dina was asked if she’d be willing to work with Coney in a soap opera.
“I love that idea, why not? But if that happens, I won’t agree to play the role of the kontrabida. She (Coney) should be the one to play the kontrabida. And for a change, I want to play the role of the mistress, the good-natured mistress,” Dina told writers who talked to her when she appeared in the episode of “U Can Dance” last Saturday at ABS-CBN.
“I would want to play the mistress and she’ll play the role of the legal wife. Wala naman sigurong maniniwala na ako ang maging kontrabida sa buhay niya, di ba?” Dina added.
After her stint in “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos,” Dina will be seen next in a GMA 7 soap opera.
There was a schedule problem that’s why she was unable to accept “Mahawi Man Ang Ulap” since it ran in conflict with “Natutulog Ba Ang Diyos?”—but she was careful not to burn her bridges with GMA. In fact, she’s looking forward to working again at GMA 7.

Mark Bautista must be feeling the pressure already as his second major concert titled “Simply Irresistible” is drawing near. The concert will be staged this Saturday at the Aliw Theater where Mark did his first major concert last year. But he faces tough competition as Babyface takes the Araneta Coliseum concert stage also on the same day.
“I am praying hard that people would also come and watch my concert despite the stiff competition, since a lot of other artists are also coming up with their own concerts,” said Mark who’s the endorser of Le Froge. The clothing brand is sponsoring Mark’s concert that features Sarah Geronimo, Rachelle Ann Go and Rufa Mae Quinto as guest artists.
There must be something special with him that’s why Rachelle (who did not appear in Christian Bautista’s concert) and Rufa Mae (who is not appearing in Erik Santos’ concert at the Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 18) agreed to appear in Mark’s show. He will be performing his hit songs, a medley of pop hits, plus duets with Sarah, Rachelle, and Rufa Mae.

Singer Jimmy Bondoc was somehow courting disaster when he joked that Nyoy Volante (the boyfriend of Nina, his ex-gf) looks like a frog. But it was meant as a joke although some people who might have heard it would probably not take it as such.
In any rate, Jimmy has apologized although Nina had a reaction that was aired in “Showbiz Central” last Sunday.
Jimmy and his co-hosts namely Paolo Santos, Mike Chan, Luke Mejares, Top Suzara and DJ Myke, collectively known as the Sabado boys will continue to make our Saturday nights filled with fun and music as ETC Productions launches a beefed-up and supercharged season of “Sabado Boys” starting October 13, Saturday, 9 p.m. at RPN 9.
The new season promises a more exciting, interactive and entertaining take on the show’s format, segments and execution to highlight the individual talents of the members of “Sabado Boys” and their audience and tackle topics related to music, entertainment and the gimmick scene.
At the helm of the new season’s creative scene is TV and events director Yeng Grande who takes charge of all the nitty-gritty of the musical TV show’s new presentation. The show also has included new segments like Groupie of the Week (the boy’s bonding moment with the fans), Jamming (with guest bands and performers), Kantang Kalye (song survey and interaction with the people working on the street.
Initial roster of guests in the new season include The Dawn, I-Axe, Asia Agcaoili and Robert Sena, among others.

Showbiz wannabes will try anything and everything to be noticed. This seems to be the strategy of Mutya ng Pilipinas 2nd runner-up Rica Taylor who, according to a report published in a broadsheet, said that Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific 2007 Zara Aldana would no longer represent the country to this year’s Miss Asia Pacific International Pageant.
Rica made her announcement in “her capacity as Mutya ng Pilipinas Subic Adventure 2007 and spokesperson of the organization.” However, it was not made clear what organization she represents.
The “alleged” resignation of Aldana has spun different stories and interpretations depending on which camp is talking. In truth, the public has already presumed she resigned. However, this has not been made official as no formal turn-over of crown has been heard of as to this date.
The official announce-ment should come from Mutya ng Pilipinas, Inc. and not just from anybody else designated as spokes-person. But what puzzles those who follow this Mutya issue is the “silence treatment” of the Mutya organizer and Aldana’s manager Joey Aquino on this controversy.
