Regine Velasquez and Piolo Pascual heaped praises on each other during the Cebu presscon yesterday for their upcoming love movie, “Paano Kita Iibigin.”
The movie, which is a joint offering from Star Cinema and Viva Films, was two years in the making. It is the first team-up on film for the duo, though they revealed they acted together in an episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya.“ Both claimed that this “reunion” has been much awaited.
“She’s very generous and very down-to-earth,” Piolo says of his co-star, sharing that during the end of their shooting last week Regine raffled off appliances to the production staff.
“He’s so nice and thoughtful,” Regine returns the compliment, saying that during her birthday some weeks back Piolo prepared a feast for her and literally served her. “And he’s like this little boy; he has that innocence in him that I like about him and which makes him appealing to people,” she adds.
If the off-screen chemistry is very palpable, the question now, will it translate to the big screen? Both Regine and Piolo have a string of blockbuster films to their credit, and with Direk Joyce Bernal at the directorial helm, showbiz watchers are saying that it all has the ingredients of a potential hit film.
Regine and Piolo declared that this is the most daring film they made ever. As to how daring, “that you will have to watch out,” Piolo says. “We really pushed each other’s limits here.” The two also collaborated in the making of the soundtrack of the film.
In the film, Regine plays a single mother down on her luck on almost every aspect of her life. Piolo plays a grieving man wasting away his life. Their meeting will change the course of their lives.
“Paano Kita Iibigin,” which has the lush greenery and idyllic beach of Zambales as setting, opens nationwide on May 30. See photos of the lead stars shot during their presscon at Crown Regency Suites in Mactan in this page. NMT
