Goma confident showbiz will welcome him back

Richard Gomez had to resign from his TV shows (S-Files and Lagot Ka, Isusumbong Kita) when he filed his candidacy to run as senator. But he has no regrets of doing so. According to him, what is important is that he is able to share to the people his advocacy against drugs, the welfare of the youth and the improvement of our country''s educational system. He knows it''s hard to run as an independent candidate, with very limited resources and no party machinery to back him up.
"I am leaving my fate to the Almighty. If God wills that I will make it and win as senator, only God can seal my destiny. I am doing my best in the campaign trail and I am gladdened by the warm reception given to me by the people," says the three-time Urian best actor winner.
Aside from giving up his two existing shows, Richard also had to pass the opportunity to be a part of "Asian Treasures." He knows he''s fighting a hard battle but he''s determined to go on. No matter if he lacks the logistics and the manpower, he''s still working hard and hoping for the best.
Whatever would be the outcome of his quest for a senate seat, Goma believes showbiz will always be there to welcome him back. On a lighter side, when asked if he and his wife Lucy Torres is still hoping for their second baby, Richard says it''s a work in progress. But with the stress of the campaign, the plan is put on hold.
Former Sampaguita star Daisy Romualdez was the lone guest last Friday in "Showbiz Ka," the newest showbiz talk show in RPN 9 hosted by Pat P Daza-Planas and according to her, Wilson Tieng (the big boss of Solar Entertainment) reportedly asked her if she would be willing to do a talk show with Annabelle Rama.
With two volatile ladies known for "katarayan" coming together in a show, that should be an explosive combination, and should you ask me, an interesting viewing fare. Although Wilson Tieng has yet to make a solid offer, Tita Daisy intimated she''s quite interested to do the show, especially with her friend Annabelle as co-host.
"If the price is right, I might accept the offer," says the mom of young rocker Danita Paner. Incidentally, Danita is turning 18 this month but Tita Daisy has no plans of holding a debut for her since Danita''s godparents are politicians who are all busy on the campaign trail. She is happy for her daughter who is making good as a rock singer. Danita''s newest single is titled "Lunod" and it has an accompanying video being shown at the MYX Channel. If you wish to vote for her video just text MYX (Space) Vote (space) Lunod and send to 2366.
"Rounin" is one of the biggest productions of ABS-CBN. In fact, it has been given its own category: the tele-epiko. The mammoth production that started last year under the direction of Erik Matti started airing last Monday on ABS-CBN''s primetime bida.
An epic like "Rounin" deserves a soundtrack. Produced by Star Records, it features Bamboo singing the theme song titled "Argos," Bojo (Colt 45 Rockista winner) Kitchie Nadal, Sandwich, Shamrock and many more, including three new bands given a break. The Lakas ng Rounin Launch Party was held last Saturday, April 14, at the Blue Wave in the Mall of Asia area. The party started off with the album''s press launch at 7 p.m., followed by the special screening of "The Making of Rounin." Members of the cast of "Rounin" namely Diether Ocampo, Luis Manzano, TJ Trinidad, Carlos Agassi and Rafael Rosell were among those who graced the affair.
The event was highlighted by a rock concert with performances by North Groove, Bliss, Kevin Roy, Shamrock, Bojo, Kitchie Nadal, and of course, Bamboo.
The soundtrack album of "Rounin" is now available nationwide under Star Records.
