Husband and wife tandem of Cesar and Sunshine to hit the big screen

Are female newscasters the apples of this politician's eye? The buzz is that the politician has broken up with a newscaster (who is estranged from her husband) and is after another broadcaster who is separated. The amazing thing is that he's not that good-looking at all. He has a paunch, and he's advanced in years. Yet the women he's been linked with are definitely head-turners. A politician-friend of mine said that what his colleague lacks in looks he makes up for in pleasantness and wit.

And, of course, the biggest come-on of all: He's awash in cash!

It's been a long time since we've seen Sunshine Cruz in a movie, so her latest project is an eye-opener. Sunshine herself considers the film, "Ligalig," as a new challenge. She plays the lover and nurse to her real-life husband Cesar Montano. Cesar is a taxi driver who is somehow involved in a series of killings. Cesar himself directs the movie.

Also in "Ligalig" are Johnny Manahan, who also took a hiatus from the movies; Katya Santos and Gwen Garci. Will Katya and Gwen be the source of a new spat between Sunshine and Cesar? I remember when Mrs. Montano raged at Juliana Palermo when Juliana and Cesar did a movie together. Juliana says she and Sunshine have made up. She was even trying to interview Sunshine for her column in the Philippine Star. I just don't know if that interview materialized.

"Ligalig" is entered in the Metro Manila Film Festival in December.

Cinema One will have its first cable feature of the Nora Aunor film, Sidhi, this Sunday Cine Premiere on October 29, 8 pm.

The movie showcases another stunning performance of Nora Aunor's talent, as she convincingly portrays the role of a mute while banking on her eyes to express her emotions. Starring with Nora are Albert Martinez, Rey Ventura, Tony Mabesa, Angie Ferro, Richard Quan, Caridad Sanchez and Glydel Mercado who earned her grand slam Best Supporting Actress awards for that year.

With screenplay by Ricky Lee and direction by Joel Lamangan, Sidhi is an adaptation of Rolando Tinio's teleplay, Ang Kuwento ni Ah.

Set in the early 50's, post-World War II era, the story revolves around Ah, who was born mute and 'ah' being the only sound she can utter.

Before her father's death, he arranged her marriage to a bigamist, Miguel, thus resulting to violent consequences.

Sidhi is on Cinema One's Sunday Cine Premiere, October 29, 8 p.m.

It's official: Tom Cruise will marry Katie Holmes in Italy next on Nov. 18.

Very little is known about the wedding except that Holmes will wear a dress designed by Giorgio Armani.

Cruise and Holmes announced their engagement in Paris in June last year. Their daughter Suri, was born in April.

Cruise, who has been married twice before, most recently to Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, has said he and Holmes had delayed their wedding because they wanted their daughter to attend.

"In many ways we feel like we already are married," he told Good Housekeeping. "I know I'm with the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. So the wedding-that's just the party."
