Empowering Women
March 11, 2006 | 12:00am
A magazine program that seeks to inform and empower its dominantly female audience, Kay Susan Tayo provides basic and practical solutions to women's various concerns-family, relationships, health, fashion and lifestyle. And being such, it can be regarded as one of GMA News and Public Affairs' most successful innovations.
Hosted by Susan Enriquez, the show is unabashedly "masa"-oriented- which makes it unique among the current crop of lifestyle programs. In each episode, viewers learn how the average Pinay can juggle married life, take care of the kids, manage a household and still keep herself beautiful and healthy.
Kay Susan Tayo has dealt on quite a number of topics already-from the seemingly innocent adventure trips, menopausal stage, varicose veins and pregnancy, up to the quite complicated issue of cheating husbands.
Interestingly, the program's growing popularity is not at all limited to the female viewers, KST has also registered growing popularity with the male and young audiences as well-possibly one of the main reasons behind episodes which tackle erectile dysfunction, teenage sexuality and househusbands.
And for this Sunday, Susan continues her adventures in Western Visayas.
In Bacolod, Susan tries canopy walking, trekking and boating at the Mambukal Resort. She also indulges in the many sweet treats from the country's "sugar bowl."
Of course, a Bacolod food trip (otherwise known as Manokan Country) would be incomplete without Susan tasting its famous Chicken Inasal. Then Susan fancies herself as a "haciendera" inside a Balay Negrense where she learns how the rich and famous lived it up during the Spanish era.
Next stop, Guimaras, where Susan discovers the island's secret treasures. Catch all these on Kay Susan Tayo!, this Sunday at 10:30am, over GMA-7.
Lovely Day's Underwater Adventure
But before Kay Susan Tayo, the ever lovely gang of Lovely Day will first set off to Palawan for an underwater adventure like no other.
This Saturday, the Lovely Day gang faces another evil in Suneva, the black witch of the sea, who was awakened by the gang's laughter. Despising happy people, Suneva captured Gabby and Bea in an attempt to wreck the group's Palawan adventure.
Love and Christian went into the deep waters of Dimakya Island to look for their two friends. They searched for them in the House Reef, where they met new friends who tried to help them find Gabby and Bea. Their search also brought them inside the wreck of the Japanese warship, Kyokuzan Maru.
Witness the power of real friendship on Lovely Day, this Saturday at 10am.
Surprises await former stars on Wish Ko Lang!
And in the afternoon, be sure to catch local TV's resident fairy godmother, Vicky Morales, as Wish Ko Lang! once again turns the spotlight on three former stars.
Bridgette de Joya and Miguel Moreno were two of filmdom's sexy stars in the late 90s. When they fell in love and married, movie offers stopped coming. Miguel is now a taxi driver while Bridgette keeps a modest sari-sari store. Times are so hard that the couple cannot even finance a simple christening for their firstborn.
Remember Tony Angeles? A favorite character actor in several movies, he was forced to slow down because of an illness. Since then, he makes do of the little that he earns as a radio talent. Is a film comeback still possible for Tony?
Wish Ko Lang! airs every Saturday, 4:30pm, over GMA 7.
