Promising Young Actresses in 2006's Upcoming Hits

In a series of romantic comedy, fantasy adventure and horror-thriller would launch three of Hollywood's promising young actresses - Emilie De Ravin, Emma Roberts and Alyson Hannigan in 2006's surefire silverscreen hits - "The Hills Have Eyes," "Aquamarine," and "Date Movie."
"Lost" star Emilie De Ravin is as lost in her role as the rebellious Brenda in the horror remake of Wes Craven's THE HILLS HAVE EYES.
The movie begins with a typically dysfunctional cross-country family trip. It's the wedding anniversary of police detective "Big Bob" Carter (TED LEVINE) and his chatty wife Ethel (Academy Award® nominee KATHLEEN QUINLAN), Bob asked his extended family to cruise to with them, hoping the joys of the open road might help fuse their frayed connections. No one is particularly happy about it especially teen daughter, Brenda, (EMILIE DE RAVIN) detests the idea of leaving her friends for a family bonding trip.
On the trip, Big Bob takes a detour. Suddenly, the Carter family finds themselves in a desolate stretch of desert, where nothing seems to be alive for miles. But the Carters soon become aware that they are not alone. There are survivors in the hills surrounding the desert: a genetically mutated, blood-thirsty clan - who will stop at nothing to prey on the Carters. Facing the very depths of savagery, the Carter family must pull together if they are to find any hope of seeing civilized life again.
Emilie De Ravin, a Melbourne native, landed her first role in the international television series "Beastmaster: The Legend Continues." She eventually landed the role of the mysterious fourth alien as Tes Harding on "Roswell" (WB) from 2000 to 2001. She also appeared in the remake of Stephen King's classic "Carrie" (2002) before being cast away in to "Lost" fame in 2004.
Julia Roberts' niece, Emma Roberts stars in AQUAMARINE, reminiscent of the 80's movie 'Splash' which made stars out of Tom Hanks, Darryl Hannah and John Candy which tells of a mermaid who arrives in NY to track down a man she saved from drowning.
AQUAMARINE is a modern-day 'tail' of a mermaid (Sara Paxton) who was discovered by two girls (Emma Roberts and Joanna 'Jojo' Levesque) in the pool of their neighborhood beach club. When the mermaid develops a crush on a boy who works at the club, the girls plot to return her to the sea to save her life.
Emma Roberts initially generated buzz as Julia Roberts' niece with the same familiar, wide smile and soon enough, she has charmed more teenage girls and boys in America in her lead role in Nicklodeon's "Unfabulous" as the clumsy but bright teenager Addie Singer which started in 2004.
The actress is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Eric Roberts, who is Julia Roberts' brother. Although Eric and Julia have been reported to have a distant relationship, Emma Roberts was always described as being very close with her lookalike aunt, making her foray into show business almost inevitable.
Roberts also appeared in "Big Love" (2001), "Grand Champion" (2002) and "Spymate" (2003). Roberts broke into the music scene with a song on the "Ice Princess" (2005) soundtrack.
The most anticipated film of the twisted fanatics from the twisted minds of two of the six writers of Scary Movie - Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg - comes the romantic comedy DATE MOVIE.
DATE MOVIE stars Alysson Hannigan as the romantic Julia Jones whose love story unfolds through a series of hilarious borrowed moments from Meet The Parents, The Wedding Planner, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
The movie's central character and heart is Julia Jones. The moniker is a play on the names of superstar Julia Roberts and fictional character Bridget Jones, and it represents a blend of actor and character that audiences love to watch fall in love. "The one thing we know about Julia is that no matter how hard you try to keep her down, you can't crush her spirit," says Seltzer. "She believes in true love, and that's the thing you hang your hat on."
Alyson Hannigan is best known for her role as the flute-playing, sweetly perverted band camp aficionado Michelle Flaherty in the comic trilogy "American Pie" (1999), "American Pie 2" (2001) and "American Wedding" (2003).
Hannigan currently stars in the CBS romantic comedy "How I Met Your Mother." Hannigan also landed the role of Willow Rosenberg opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar from the popular drama "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" from 1997 to 2003. She had her breakthrough role at age 13 in "My Stepmother is an Alien" as Dan Aykroyd's daughter. She also starred in the Paramount film "Dead Man on Campus" opposite Tom Everett Scott.
