A lot of our kababayans in Canada would certainly be happy to know that John Lloyd Cruz is gracing the premiere showing of "Dubai" in Canada as sponsored by Patok Entertainment. The screening of "Dubai" will be held at the Ridge Theater in Vancouver tomorrow, October 29. John Lloyd is very excited since it's his first time to visit Canada. He had long wanted to visit the place.
According to Ms. Amanda Balido, the international distribution coordinator of Star Cinema, John Lloyd has a very big following in Canada and his fans would surely watch the movie wherein the actor got the chance to work with his idol Aga Muhlach.
John Lloyd just got back from Abu Dhabi and London where "Dubai" had been screened before an appreciative crowd. Also joining him in the trip were Aga, Claudine, and Pokwang. The movie "Dubai" is not only a hit in the Philippines but also in other places in the world where it was shown.
The group Orange and Lemons is very pleased with the good public reception to their song "Pinoy Ako," the theme song of "Pinoy Big Brother." Universal Records came out with a repackaged version of their "Strike Whilst The Iron Is Hot" album. It now contains "Pinoy Ako," which has proven to be a cult favorite and most requested number in every musical gig of Orange and Lemons - be it a bar or mall show.
At the launching of their repackaged album, the group was asked to react on the issue that "Pinoy Ako" bears striking resemblance to another song. The group says it's a matter of one's opinion. "It depends on who listens to it. We respect their opinion on the matter," said the group although they skirted the issue if the song was really copied or not.
Orange and Lemons likewise admitted they were given a copy of the lyrics of "Pinoy Ako" written by Jonathan Manalo of Star Records and they were instructed to create a song that has the original theme of "Big Brother" as background music, but the group decided to write new lyrics and a different tune that unmistakably has the flavor of Orange and Lemons. This is included in repackaged version of their "Strike Whilst The Iron Is Hot" album.
Other new cuts in the album are "Blue Moon," the theme song of a new Regal movie; "Abot-Kamay," a new composition of the band for the new Sunsilk commercial (the radio version of which started airing last October 23 and will have its TV premiere on November 6); plus new versions of current favorites "Heaven Knows (This Angel Has Flown)" and "Hanggang Kailan (Umuwi Ka Na Baby)."
Orange and Lemons is composed of Clem Castro (electric guitar/vocals), Mcoy Fundales (acoustic guitar/vocals), JM Del Mundo (bass guitar) and Ace Del Mundo (drums).
