Cebu retailer teams up with Vivant to ease power costs

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based retailer Prince Warehouse Inc. has partnered with the retail electricity supply arm of Vivant Energy, COREnergy, as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency and manage long-term power costs across its nationwide store network.

The collaboration is expected to allow the fast-growing retail chain to align energy procurement with evolving business requirements, while supporting sustainability initiatives through more strategic sourcing and consumption management.

“Energy plays a critical role in keeping our stores efficient and resilient,” said Blake Nelson Go, vice president for business development and finance at Prince Warehouse. “Partnering with COREnergy enables us to make more informed decisions that support expansion while maintaining reliable service for customers.”

The agreement comes as more commercial and industrial establishments gain access to alternative electricity suppliers following regulatory changes that reduced the minimum demand threshold for participation in the government’s Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program to 100 kilowatts. The policy shift has widened opportunities for qualified businesses to secure power supply arrangements beyond their traditional distribution utilities.

Through licensed retail electricity suppliers such as COREnergy, companies can optimize supply contracts, improve cost predictability, and integrate sustainability considerations into long-term operational planning.

For Vivant Energy, the partnership underscores its push to support community-based enterprises navigating a more competitive power market.

As firms increasingly assess how electricity consumption affects profitability and productivity, the company is positioning its retail supply unit to provide greater flexibility in how businesses source and manage energy.
