Freedom
We just celebrated the People Power Revolution, a beautiful historic event that showed how people can settle a difference by standing their ground on their convictions. The strength of the clamor was reminiscent of the fall of Jericho where the strong voice of God’s people literally brought the walls down with no artillery.
I think the success of the People Power can be mainly attributed to the Filipino’s belief in God. With priests and nuns and people praying, who could run over with a tank the pleading eyes of the people to stop carnage as they risked their lives in the frontline for freedom.
Years have passed and we reflect on this one event that has made us known throughout the world.
I would like to capitalize on the attribute of a quiet revolution that goes beyond the inuendoes in the satirical books of Dr. Jose Rizal. Yes, our national hero wanted to cultivate the minds of the Filipinos then, to open their eyes to the duplicity of both the Spaniards and the Filipinos of that time. Invoking the need to wake up and find a side, not to straddle on the popularity of power but to choose what is right and just for our country and our countrymen. To find that freedom to really think and be more judicious and strategic.
I am no political scientist but I can see how we continue to go through the same political cycle. Perhaps that is why I have chosen to place my freedom on a more reliable leader, one who sees through our heart and who can rule our thoughts. To this one leader do I find freedom in complete surrender.
Now, before I get accused of being fundamental, just think, who can guide and guard a heart or control a mind, or even command the universe not to bang each planet off its axis, or to control or release the effects of climate change that we actually brought about ourselves due to our abuse?
Yes, I know it sounds so big and distant. But our God has always been there. Quietly waiting for us to come to realize that He is who we need.
When we ask God to guide our steps as we go on out business every day, my, my, my, I know and have experienced how He moves. Business will go the best way. Not exactly the way we may have intended it to be, but better. There is always that peace in the freedom to exercise what is right. There is always that clarity when we know we are doing good. And I guess that is the secret of most of the large businesses in our country, whose leaders have surrendered their hearts to God. They lead with more power as they are powered by the wisdom of an omniscient and omnipotent God.
With that, we all have freedom.
