CEBU, Philippines — Internet users in Bogo City, in the northern part of Cebu province, can expect faster and improved connectivity following the installation of two new sites by Globe Telecom.

These installations are located in Brgy. Binabag and Brgy. Marangog and promises significant benefits for residents, businesses, and tourists alike, enhancing digital experiences and supporting local economic activities, said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering.

The first cell site was strategically placed in Brgy. Binabagalong the Cebu North Road, a vital artery connecting Cebu City to the Port of Hagnayain San Remigio. It is seen to provide better connectivity to the barangay’s 2,500 residents, many of whom are engaged in agribusiness, sugarcane production, and fishery.

Brgy. Binabag is also the site of the scenic Mt. Kampitlok, a beloved local landmark that attracts hikers and nature enthusiasts. The panoramic views from the peak have inspired many to document their adventures through vlogs and social media.

With the new Globe cell site, visitors and locals can now share their experiences in real time, enhancing the visibility of this natural treasure and potentially boosting local tourism.

“By improving connectivity in Bogo City, we are empowering communities, boosting local economies, and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents,” said Agustin.

Meanwhile, the second cell site, built in Brgy. Marangog, addresses the critical need for improved data services for its 2,500 residents. As an agricultural community primarily focused on corn farming, Brgy. Marangog will experience significant enhancements in communication and access to information with this new infrastructure.

Better connectivity means more efficient agricultural practices, access to market information, and opportunities for local businesses to thrive. Residents will be better equipped to engage in digital learning, access healthcare services, and connect with broader markets for their agricultural products, he added.

Bogo City, renowned for its sugarcane production and fishery, is vulnerable to climate change-induced hazards such as typhoons, floods, landslides, and storm surges, underscoring the importance of robust and reliable communication networks.

Globe’s cell towers not only enhance everyday connectivity but also strengthen the City’s resilience during emergencies.

Globe’s continuous efforts to expand its network infrastructure underscore its dedication to providing high-quality, reliable services to Filipinos nationwide. — (FREEMAN)
