CEBU, Philippines —  The University of Cebu Medical Center unveiled on September 14, 2022, its latest game-changing technology in digital imaging at UCMed Mandaue, marking the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

UCMed chairman Augusto Go said that now is a great time to provide better care for the people, stating that there was not the slightest bit of hesitation on his part when it came to purchasing the upgrades.

UCMed's Radiology Department will soon serve its patients using the Somatom X.ceed CT Scan and Mammomat Revelation from Siemens Healthineers.

“Siemens Healthineers, a leading German medical device company, almost felt like the only choice to partner up with as it proves time and time again to be the best in medical equipment.”

They are present in more than 70 countries around the world, serving everyone from everywhere, committing to people through their state of the art technology, and their constant drive to provide quality patient experience as they have been for so many years now.

The Somatom X.ceed CT scanner, one of the two advancements brought by UCMed, is the first of its kind not only in the country, but in the whole of South East Asia.

The CT scanner delivers high-resolution, high-speed, high quality images with low-dose radiation. It has an 82 cm bore that allows patients, regardless of their physique, some sense of comfort while undergoing the procedure.

This machine is also coupled with Artificial Intelligence, which provides enhanced consistency in patient care and offers unique guidance in tailoring to the needs specific to an individual.

Meanwhile, the Mammomat Revelation, a digital mammography system, promises 3D images of the breast all the while catering to the patient’s best possible experience, relieving them of any anxiety and discomfort. With a 50 ° Wide-Angle Tomosynthesis in the Mammomat Revelation, a much more accurate and superior detection of breast cancer is provided.

UCMed sought to upgrade from previous machines as it is only right to when technology becomes outdated.

Siemens Healthineers president and managing director Mike Tan explains that you cannot be in business if you cannot maintain your services. He assures that Siemens will be able to provide absolute efficiency in terms of their equipment.

"I can tell you it's very expensive," Go jokingly admits when asked about the cost of the new equipment.

"Don't worry about the price, [the] important thing is it can help. This is something fantastic - something very important for the health of our people." He adds, “Dili gani, ako i-uli ang makina.” (If it does not deliver as promised, I shall then return the machine). - Nina Tundag
