CEBU, Philippines —  Restaurant chain operator Laguna Group is taking advantage of this greatest health crisis in recent history, exercising responsible stewardship for its organization aside from just surviving in business.

The Laguna Group, which operates several restaurant brands in the country, with its flagship brand Cafe Laguna, is making every effort to keep its people, and business afloat although most of its branches had been closed since the start of quarantine measures in March this year.

“The Laguna Group is definitely eager to get up and going. Firstly, staying alive is the most we need to focus. This calls for responsible stewardship for our organization and indulge practices for physical and mental health,” shared Julita P. Urbina, the group’s founder.

While business, especially for dine-in services had been severely affected, Urbina believes that this challenge is but temporary, and that holding on is the best way albeit difficult in order “to be there when opportunities come.”

“We all try to bring each other up. That way, we will be able to be present for the opportunities that may arise beyond this crisis,” she said.

She admitted that the pandemic indeed “brought us not just uncertainty but crisis in every aspect of business sense.”

“We have been hit hard, but not out yet” she expressed optimism, while accepting the fact that everything that happens is beyond anyone’s control.

“Much has been projected and simulated for the new normal. Customers are our number one inspiration. It compels us to find ways to earn their trust more especially in this abruptly-altered dining norms,” she added.

Urbina believes that there is a great need for innovation in food preparation and store operation. These are the key to satisfy customers need for safety and health.

“Let us not complain of what we don’t have right now, rather, get yourself up and equip for our battles tomorrow,” she concluded.
