Jollibee installs self-order kiosks

CEBU, Philippines — Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) rolled out its first “Self-order Kiosk” or SOK units in Ayala Center Cebu.

The SOK or touch-screen menu board is one of the company’s innovative offerings to catch up with the market, specifically the millennials and Generation Z segments.

JFC trade marketing officer for Visayas Mia Ali Faridoon said the company will install SOK in its soon-to-open store in the Ayala Malls Central Bloc in IT Park.

Before the end of the year, the Jollibee SM City Cebu and SM Seaside branches will also have the SOK feature.

The Ayala Center Cebu store also launched its first take-out-counter which features overhead transport system, enhancing customer experience through innovation.

In the last four years, the Philippines’ largest fast food operator has been investing heavily on innovation and digital technology, said Tricia Rafiñan, Senior Trade marketing manager Visayas.

In a report, Joseph Tanbuntiong, Jollibee Foods Corp country business group head said that the tap-to-order kiosks are targeted at young customers who want a different kind of engagement.

Customers can pay for their meals at the machine using their credit or debit cards, or settle the bill with cash at the counter.

A 2017 study showed that millennials - customers born between 1981 and 1996 - are more keen on spending on experience, regardless of their income.

Cebu province has a total of 73 stores. It is expecting to reach 75 outlets by the end of the year with the opening of Jollibee outlets in Plaza Independecia and Ayala Malls Central Bloc. (FREEMAN)
