Homegrown direct selling firm to empower women entreps

CEBU, Philippines — Cebu-based Prisca Beauty and Cosmetics has committed to bring business opportunities, especially to women, across the country via direct selling concept.

The company, founded by its chief executive officer (CEO) Niña Mabatid, is going to expand its network distribution centers around the Philippines, establishing at least five distribution networks in each major city or province.

“Direct selling is one of the creative tools to help women become independent business owners. I personally want to share my entrepreneurial wit and skill to other women. I want them to become successful too,” said Mabatid in an interview.

Launched only this year, Prisca Beauty and Cosmetics is offering free membership registration to allow stay-at-home moms and those women who need small sideline business to start earning and build their own network.

Just like other direct selling firms, such as the established Avon brand, Prisca aims to empower women by giving them opportunity to earn just by using the product, and sharing the “gospel” of beauty to friends, even strangers, Mabatid said.

Prisca is one of the new entrants to the highly-competitive skin care and cosmetics market in the Philippines.

One of its strategies in boosting membership and distribution network is to temporarily eliminate the usual registration fee, with attractive discount packages for members, said Cherry Pearl Silvero, Prisca Beauty and Cosmetics general manager.

This early, Prisca has over 100 active members.

“Prisca Beauty and Cosmetics is still on soft launch and this is the best time for those who want to start a business in the beauty industry to invest as distributors or stockist,” said Mabatid.

A stockist can start with an investment of P100,000 and enjoy 30 percent discount; P300,000, 35 percent discount; and P500,000, 40 percent.

The stockists can then sell these products in their preferred areas.

A beauty and cosmetic buff herself, Mabatid assured that Prisca’s products are free from harmful ingredients, as every product line is carefully formulated. She likewise assured that her company has secured necessary permits and approval from Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Philippines.

“I’m very confident of my products because they underwent several stages of development, and I really checked the ingredients. They are safe and effective to use,” she said.

Through this venture, Mabatid believes that more women will be empowered in unleashing their entrepreneurial prowess, regardless of social and educational backgrounds. (FREEMAN)
