Housing developers convene in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — Hundreds of housing developers from across the country will convene today at the Marco Polo Plaza Cebu for the 9th OSHDP (Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines) National Convention.

 

The two-day conference hosted by OSHDP Cebu Chapter, aims to address the pressing concerns of the industry as well as other challenges, said OSHDP president Marcelino Mendoza.

Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman Eduardo del Rosario will keynote the opening of the two-day convention.

Senator Cynthia Villar will speak in the afternoon session to be followed by talks by DILG Usec. Epimaco V. Densing on “Ease of Doing Business and the Prospects of Federalism in the Philippines” and by Mayor Gabriel Luis Quisumbing on “Ease of Doing Business: The Mandaue City Experience.”

Convention chairman Richard Azares said the issue on “Sustainable Housing Finance” will also be dissected during the event.

Topics like “Promoting Financial Inclusion through Blockchain Technology,” and “Creditworthiness in the Real Estate Sector,” will be explained further by experts like Januario Jesus Atencio III and Mario Jordan Fetalino III (both of Acudeen), and Jaime P. Garchitorena, President & CEO of Credit Information Corporation.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) undersecretary Catalina Cabral will also discuss on “Sustainable Land Management and Governance” and the benefits of the Public-Private Partnership under the Build, Build, Build Program.

Representatives from the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas (BSP) are also expected to give updated economic briefing on August 24.

Panel discussion on “Legislative Measures to Sustain Housing Growth” will also be participated by Congressman Alfredo Benitez, Senators Joseph Victor Ejercito and Sherwin Gatchalian; the Plenary Session on “Investment Outlook for Visayas and Mindanao” will be presented by David Leechiu of Leechiu Property Consultants, and “Professionalizing the Real Estate Service”  by Dr. Eduardo G. Ong, PRBRES Chairman.

OSHDP hopes to submit several resolutions on issues that disturb industry players as they committed to supporting the government’s bid to solve the six million housing backlog in the country.
