PLDT, UPOU reinforce partnership in Infoteach
CEBU, Philippines - Continuing its efforts to advance digital literacy, telecom and digital services provider PLDT has partnered with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) for the 4th consecutive year to conduct its PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program which provides public high school teachers and students advanced courses and modules in computer and internet literacy.
Since its inception in 2004, the PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program has produced about 20,000 graduates across the nation. The 21st century skills modules include effective communication skills, which consist of an online course on oral communication and conversational fluency in English; social media for education and responsible citizenship; media literacy, global citizenship, which is composed of computer ethics, cybercrime law, and social responsibility; and green IT.
PLDT Community Relations Head/Consultant Evelyn M. Del Rosario said strong partnerships has helped the PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program evolve over the years. “Since the onset of the PLDT Infoteach Outreach Program, we have built partnerships among renowned institutions so that we can address the changing needs of teachers and students,” Del Rosario said.
