Developer maps out more projects in tourism hotspots

CEBU, Philippines - Local property developer Enrison Land Inc., is putting its focus on developing more hotel and resort properties in the tourism hotspots in the Philippines to keep up with the robust growth of the tourism sector.

The Benedicto-led property development company, owns and manages the 160-room boutique Be Resorts located in Mactan Island.

In an interview with Enrilen Joy Benedicto, the company's managing director, she announced that the firm has started to build up three more resort properties in Bohol, Malapascua Island, and in Talima, Olango Island.

Enrison land Inc., will soon open its 205-room and 20 villas Be Resorts in Panglao Island Bohol in the next couple of months.

Works are also ongoing to complete its 30-villa Be Resorts property in Malapascua Island in the northern part of Cebu.

A three-hectare property owned by the company in Talima, Olango Island will also be developed converting the area into one of the landmarks in the bird sanctuary—Olango Island.

“We believe our expansion in the sector will further boost Cebu’s footing in the global tourism industry,” said Benedicto adding that instead of deciding to partner with global hotel chain, the company sticking to its thrust in managing all its properties in order not to lose the tradition of true Filipino hospitality and culture, which the company vows to uphold.

“The hospitality industry is getting more competitive and while being innovative is the only way we can advance in the competition, we will not lose our local touch. We will still push through with the local traditions to be showcased in our facilities,” Benedicto added.

She said that it is still the unique Filipino hospitality that will help the resort-chain achieve its objective to become a big tourism player in the country.

“It is but right to highlight the hospitality of Filipinos because being hospitable is already inherent and innate among us. Filipinos still provide the best service and it is our competitive edge. Now is the best time to push for that,” said Benedicto.

The company is also currently working to get five-star accreditation for its projects from the Department of Tourism, but what is apparent she said is the company will reinforce the Philippines' promotion of eco-tourism, at the same time achieving global standard services.

Aside from the identified three properties which the company is building, Benedicto said there is also a plan for another Be Resorts expansion in Palawan.

Benedicto said these three resorts are designed to enhance the eco-tourism potentials of the areas.

The Benedicto Group, which also owns a cement factory, school, exporting company, among others, entered into the hospitality sector some years ago through the development of Be Resorts in Punta Engaño on Mactan Island.

The encouraging business of its first resort venture, prompted the company focus on tourism-related investments, although it also has lined up projects for BPO and commercial buildings, and residential developments, — (FREEMAN)
