CEBU, Philippines - More and more Cebuanos are adapting to online customer-to-customer system, which according to buy and sell portal OLX Philippines, generally reflects the Filipinos’ positive attitude towards online transactions.

OLX reported that Cebuano sellers post an average of 2,000 ads for pre-loved items every day.

“Cebuanos have finally recognized the potential monetary value of these items,” said RJ David, the CEO of the company.

To date, around 60 percent of online transactions are done through C2C system. David said they are eyeing to increase it to 80 percent by the end of the fiscal year.

This is different as to the case before when business-to-customer deals were the trend.

OLX Cebu marketing manager Regina Aguilar said that Cebu now has around 10,200 C2C listers or sellers and about 2,090 ads that are being posted a day. They have registered 6.8 million views in the site every month, she said.

In addition, David said urging Filipinos to sell their unused items online is very challenging as they are used to give these to their relatives or donate to calamity victims.

However, he expressed confidence that they would eventually realized that they could actually earn from things cluttering in their houses.  (FREEMAN)
