Veco turns over rewired Mandaue school to DepEd

CEBU, Philippines - VECO recently turned over a newly rewired Subangdaku Elementary School in Mandaue City to the DepEd.

Chief Operating Officer Sebastian Lacson, Community Relations Manager Eric Ching, Reputation Management Manager Theresa Sederiosa, Subangdaku Barangay Captain Ernie Manatad, DepEd officers, teachers and officers of the Parent Teachers Association were present during the ceremonial turnover. 

Lacson likened the rewiring project that cost P960,500 to building a new school. “It is very important that we did the rewiring because we see that some classrooms are still made of wood. We are happy that we have Subangdaku Elementary School as our beneficiary because it is not only a big school.

With 65 classrooms and a population of 3,073 students, the school has been almost razed by fire several times due to faulty electrical wires, causing  serious concern about the safety of the school children. 

“This rewiring project is a great help in making our schools safe and more conducive for learning, and we have VECO to thank for this,”  said school principal Rosita Gonzales. 

Since this project was launched  four years ago,  VECO has already rewired 27 shools and 810 classrooms in its franchise area.           

The company replaced the substandard wires with the recommended insulated electrical wires. Individual circuit breakers were also installed in every classroom. (FREEMAN)
