For gadget users: ICT firm creates virtual clinic

CEBU, Philippines - To sustain its lead in the PC (personal computer) segment, including tablet-PC markets, Information, Communication and Technology Company Acer brings customer service closer to its clients through the Acer Clinic.

The company recently formed a team of technology experts dubbed as the “Acer IT Doctors” to provide technical service and attend to even the most trivial questions from Acer gadget users, using the famous social media platform — Facebook.

The team led by Cuki Pender, was in Cebu recently to officially announce the opening of the virtual Acer clinic, considering that Cebu and the rest of Southern Philippine markets are one of the fast growing areas for the brand.

Pender said that although the company has equally strengthened its presence in major markets by providing physical stores and technical support facilities, the company has decided to reach out directly to customers taking advantage of the internet, for customers to get easier and upfront answers from experts.

Introduced only in the last few months, Pender said the Acer Clinic in Facebook already registered an average of 30 thousand questions either directly through the account’s wall or via chat.

“We will answer any IT related questions, technical or even trivial. This is how we reach out to customers in a greater scope,” said Pender in a press conference.

Despite the existence of android, IOs based devices, Pender said PC and tablet-PCs, the devices or those that run by Windows platform that promote productivity, is still significantly growing.

In the Philippines, he said PC penetration is still around the 30 percent level, which means that there is still a huge potential for growth.

Pender, who is the Acer digital display service business leader, said that while Filipinos are known as one of the most “internet savvy” nationalities, penetration for PC, desktops, laptops, and tablets is still considered low.

IDC survey revealed that Acer has taken the lead in the PC market in the Philippines, with 30 percent market share.

Admittedly though, Pender said majority of Filipinos are now really tech savvy who need proper guidance or valuable technical assistance when it comes to matters concerning IT. “This explains why the formation of the Acer IT Doctors is quite timely.”

“The Acer IT Doctors will be available to answer many IT-related queries to provide no-techies out there a more personalized and personified customer service, and even help guide customers in choosing the best-fitting and most appropriate IT device for them depending on their needs, lifestyle and of course, budget,” said Pender.

Pender added that the Acer  IT Doctors will not only cater to Acer gadget users, but also the general public regardless if they are Acer users or not.

“Whatever IT brand these users patronize, the IT Doctors of Acer are open to provide valuable assistance and as a reliable go-to-option whenever they want to address and solve important IT needs and queries.  This would definitely appeal to IT product users who usually encounter technology-or computer-related issues in their gadgets.

Pender is joined by Mikee Taylo, Vince Golangco and Jeffrey Mariano, to lead the Acer “IT Doctors” in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Acer also introduced its latest product, the Acer Iconia W4 2-in-1 netbook, a compact, easy to carry, comfortable to read and browse and can work and play on the go. It is something students and young professionals can use for their academic and work needs. (FREEMAN)
