CEBU, Philippines -  AboitizLand, Inc. has invested P5 million to P6 million for its first eco-adventure park project in Barangay Cansomoroy in Balamban, which was formally inaugurated over the weekend.

The CansoX Mountain Adventure Park is developed by AboitizLand in partnership with Tsuneishi Industries (Cebu) Inc.  (THICI). It is designed to be the first hike-bike-camp eco facility in Cebu specifically intended for extreme outdoor sports enthusiasts and adventurous individuals.

The 12-hectare leisure-themed eco development is nestled within the 25-hectare property owned by Cebu Industrial Park Developers, Inc. (CIPDI), of which AboitizLand is a local affiliate.

AboitizLand industrial business unit assistant vice president Terrie Abad said that the flagship project in the leisure adventure development proves the firm’s position in coming up with first-of-its-kind projects in Cebu.

“We always make it a point to reinvent our products. This time, CansoX is our playground,” she said. She said that the developer saw the potential of the area to be a hub where people can enjoy the nature.

“We want to keep everything natural. CansoX is an escape from the usual urban activities, offering a variety of outdoor entertainment and attractions,” she said.

Camp director Rafael Osumo revealed that a café in CansoX will be operational by next month.

He said that they are currently negotiating with local restaurant operators in the area to offer native food such as Balamban liempo, hanging rice or puso, and barbecue.

He added that they will also soon provide tents and bikes to be rented out by guests. For now, they could bring their own equipment. There are three pit stops and a camping site that could house 10 tents.

Other outdoor activities in the eco-park include river trekking, hiking, and biking

The facility has six to eight security and ranger staff but has to reinforce its personnel to handle hikers. They also provide first aid kits and medical assistance.

Osumo said that rates for the sports activities are currently being negotiated. Entrance fees are priced at P50 for guests aged 12 years old and above while P25 for guests aged five to 11 years old. Those who are aged four years old and below will be accommodated for free.

He said that they already cater to guests by appointment basis. Interested parties need to coordinate with the main office of AboitizLand in Banilad.

CansoX is an hour away from Cebu City via the Transcentral Highway. It is highly accessible along the main highway and proximate to major establishments in Balamban. (FREEMAN)
