JIKFI ties up w/ STC for scholarship program

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Keeping true to the vision of the late founder Juanito I. King in breaking the bondage of poverty through education, the Juanito I. King Foundation, Inc. (JIKFI) recently formed a partnership with the Saint Theresa’s College – Cebu (STC-Cebu).

Attended by JIKFI executive director Mr. Kenneth Raymund H. King and STC-Cebu Dean of College, Sr. Rosie Mendoza, ICM, the signing of the memorandum of agreement was done last June 7.

Being an NGO, JIKFI had its humble beginnings in providing assistance to a few production workers’ children from Nito’s Auto Supply and King’s Quality Foods. Today, along with its growth and the capacity to serve more, JIKFI provides more scholarship opportunities.

The partnership with STC-Cebu enables JIKFI to provide 4 more scholarship grants to poor but deserving students interested in taking up BS in Social Work. The scholarship is open to interested students who are residents of Cebu City and may enter the screening process organized by STC-Cebu and JIKFI.

The scholarship is aimed to augment the rising need for social workers in the country.  JIKFI sees the important contribution of the social workers. Their expertise and trainings are essential in responding to the needs of the people in distress and assist other NGOs.

Those who will qualify for the scholarship  will  automatically become members of the JIKFI Scholars Guild (JSG). As a part of the current pool of more than 60 scholars, they are entitled to member privileges such as, skills training, personality development, values formation, team building and buddy tutorial activities. These activities are specifically organized by JIKFI to provide a holistic formation for all its scholars.

A  PCNC accredited institution, JIKFI now accepts partnerships for its education programs.  (FREEMAN)
