MCCI inducts new member companies, elects trustees

CEBU, Philippines - As a continued proof of the growth and dynamism of one of the leading business organizations in Cebu, the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) recently inducted its 20 new member companies and elected seven of its members of the Board of Trustees for the fiscal year 2012 to 2013.

Last Friday, the chamber held its annual general membership meeting at Oakridge Pavilion, Oakridge Business Park, highlighting on the election of new members of the Board of Trustees, induction of new member companies and the President’s Report.

With the promotion of Mandaue City as the ideal investment hub next to Cebu City, MCCI president Philip Tan said that the induction of new members attests to the sustained growth of the chamber backed up with the support of the board that are mostly comprised of young leaders who tend to innovate and help the local business community. 

He added that MCCI and the private sector as a whole will continuously uplift entrepreneurship and business development while promoting harmony with the government.

“This year will be a challenging year with the ongoing strong economic growth of the country. You’ll see more of Mandaue City as it will continue to grow in the coming years,” he said.

The induction of new MCCI members was led by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Regional Governor Norris Oculam.

Among the 20 new member companies include John Ciocon Creative Agency, Inkpro Venture, Insular Square Mall, Get Access, Mc. Empire Corp., Kings Quality Food, Inc. Cebu, Pacific Heights International Inc., Langkawi Discovery Spa, Everjust Realty Development Corp., Asuki Weighing System, Inc., JLT Insurance Brokers, Twin Bee Print Ads Corp., U.E Asia Hydraulic Enterprises, 724Care, TV5, Coast Pacific Manufacturing, Northern Transcription Work, Inc., Alaska Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Parts and Supplies, Dohera Hotel and TY-Farma Audit Tax Consultancy.

After the counting of the official ballots that was done on the same day, the election committee chaired by Lourdes Odette Damazo proclaimed the eight winning candidates as the new members of the Board of Trustees.

They include Tan and Stanley Go who both garnered 56 as the highest number of votes and followed by Edgar Allan Po, Michelle Co, Noreen Yu, Vicky Dy and Alice Uy.

They are in addition to the incumbent eight Board of Directors of the chamber who are Amado Go, Glenn Anthony Soco, Carmel de Pio-Salvador, Jeruel Roa, Wesley Chiongbian, Joseph Yu, Mark Anthony Ynoc and Peter Limquiaco.

The Board shall schedule to convene for the election of officers for the next term that will possibly happen next month.

Tan further urged the member companies to actively participate in the chamber’s activities as members of event committees and contributors to projects in order to maintain the dynamism MCCI has been known for.

Two years from now, MCCI will celebrate its 50th anniversary as a business organization. /JOB (FREEMAN)
