DTI-7 to work with BOI on perks for green firms
CEBU, Philippines - The regional office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Central Visayas will be working closely with the Board of Investment (BOI) in coming up with attractive incentives for companies adopting "green operations."
DTI-7 regional director Asteria Caberte said that her office will take the lead in coordinating with BOI to enhance or re-package existing provisions for incentives.
"We will include BOI in the loop to encourage companies to adopt environment friendly operations," said Caberte.
Caberte added that it is very important for micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) to avail of the incentives offered by BOI.
At present, incentives are given to companies utilizing renewable energy or those that produce renewable energy.
In a separate interview with BOI governor Oliver Butalid, he said there is also a need for MSMEs to explore and avail of the fiscal and tax perks by the BOI.
Butalid urged MSMEs to check out BOIs offering, while his office noticed a few MSMEs availing of incentives.
"We would like to erase impressions that BOI incentives are only for big ticket investments," Butalid said.— (FREEMAN)
