CEBU, Philippines - With the Chinese New Year just around the bend, a well-renowned feng shui economist projected a “super boom” in the national and local economy of Cebu for the Year of the Water Snake.

Feng shui expert and economist Master Aldric Dalumpines said that the Philippines might “hit the roof” this 2013, predicted to be “far, far better” than the previous years.

He added that 8.88 percent is the lucky growth number for the country that could either be applicable to the Gross Domestic Product growth or any informal economic progress.

“Everything will be better including small-scale businessmen. Real money is tremendously circulating. As you can see, there is no inflation unlike in the United States,” he said.

Although Cebu is back to being “Ceboom”, he noted that the politics could be a threat to the economy of the province.

“Example of which are the fly-overs that once built could cut the veins of the dragon in Cebu and impair its progress. So no to fly-overs,” he continued.

Master Aldric cited that there will be five engines of economic growth such as the Reproductive Health Law with the dollar aids from the World Bank and other agencies to support the program, the Sin Tax Law that will provide more income to the government, stronger peso appreciation that could reach P38 and election spending.

He added that the last five presidents of the country including Aquino shall work in tandem to help the economy, making corruption positive in terms of money laundering.

He also contradicted the projection of an economist from the University of Asia and the Pacific that some local business process outsourcing companies might close once peso strength would reach P39 against dollar.

Instead, he said that more BPO investors are strategically entering the rural areas in the country since peso is stronger than other currencies.

He said that the European and US markets will show better signs of improvement as they start to recover this year.

For entrepreneurship, Master Aldric advised that one has to choose a business that would be compatible to his personal feng shui element.

He cited in particular that water-related businesses such as telecommunications, computers, lending, financing, money remittances and pawnshops are found to be profitable this year.

He clarified that water, in feng shui, symbolizes money.

He also warned that opposing elements such as fire would be considered as unlucky in feng shui entrepreneurship, saying that fire businesses such as bakery, restaurant, manufacturing, and exports particularly manpower could be unadvisable investments.

For a successful enterprise, he added that an entrepreneur should choose the right team of personalities for business partners and employees complementing with his element.

Also, he advised the corporate industry to use the color of green for the year 2013 to attract luck for the business.

For instance, a businessman should use green ink for signing contracts and checks, green company logos, stationery, cards, uniforms, symbols, delivery vans, advertising materials, offices, and green building roofs.

Master Aldric warned not to use blue or black colors since they represent monetary worries.

Green is prosperity in feng shui, symbolizing growth similar to the growth of the green canopy cover of forests as it is associated with the Chinese feng shui element of wood.

“Be practical in feng shui. Treat feng shui as a pastime or a hobby. It is a science that will help you, a space of design, nothing religious,” Master Aldric clarified as he spoke to the members of the Rotary Club of Cebu – Fuente last February 4 at the Casino Español de Cebu.

Meanwhile, he recommended that the ritual for February 9 or during the Chinese New Year’s Eve should include the 8 round fruits that symbolizes double prosperity and one pineapple or “ong lai” in Chinese that means welcoming prosperity.

He also cited that oysters, clam soup, and tahong are the best seafood dishes for the attraction of wealth to be eaten from February 10 until February 25.

He added that a whole fish at any kind is considered to be the best prosperity food and should be pointed towards the breadwinner for abundance.

Master Aldric teaches both individual and corporate clients to do feng shui in the most economical and effective ways.

He is the resident feng shui columnist of My Home Magazine and authored three feng shui publications namely How to Consult Feng Shui Made Easy, The Unknown Story of Feng Shui, and May Hiwagang Go La Salle Feng Shui Greenbook.

He co-authored the “Practical Geomancy”, the first feng shui book in the Philippines with Professor Charlie Chao.

He was the founding president of Asian Geomancy Society.

He has a forthcoming pamphlet to be named as My Mahiwagang Go Ateneo Feng Shui Bluebook.

He also has a website, www.punsoy.com, and a Facebook account.  (FREEMAN)
