CEBU, Philippines - Acknowledging the evolution of the personal computer market at present, Lenovo continues to meet the shifting demands for consumption and content creation as they recently unveiled two new products for both consumers and enterprises.

In its 20 years of innovation, the Lenovo brand hopes to reach the highest rank in the PC technology industry earlier than its 2015 target.

The PC technology company introduced their touch-optimized and multi-mode devices which are the IdeaPad Yoga 13 and ThinkPad Twist, both of which are designed with Intel Ultrabook technology and Windows 8.

Lenovo country general manager Vicky Agorrilla said that their convertible devices will be the next big thing after tablets and smartphones have been the hit in the market for the past two years since the new products of their ThinkPad and IdeaPad lines feature the convergence and mobility of both a notebook computer and a tablet.

“Today is not just about traditional PCs. It is now what we call as the “PC+ era” and now is the right time for the convertible form factor to take off. The IdeaPad Yoga 13 and ThinkPad Twist convertibles reinforce Lenovo’s commitment to continuously provide cutting-edge innovation,” she stated.

She added that there are already four kinds of the advanced PC technology nowadays which includes the traditional computers, smartphones, smart TV’s and tablets.

She said that the entry of gadgets like laptops, notebooks, smartphones and tablets still highlight the basic functionality of personal computers.

Although more than half of the Philippine PC market is consumers, she further noted entrepreneurs nowadays see the value and necessity of the PC technology for their businesses.

Market analyst IDC reported that Microsoft Windows 8 is set to bring a new experience to users and are likely to entice consumers to experience the best of both worlds for both PC and tablet, thus increasing their technology adoption rates. Gartner, on the other hand, said that the impact of mobile technology on businesses will continue to build and predicted that 40 percent of the workforce will be mobile by 2016.

Agorilla cited that Lenovo has grown 14 quarters in a row even if the PC market is quietly down, saying that Cebu is the second biggest market of the company in the Philippines.

Retail manager Ron Flores discussed the features of IdeaPad Yoga 13 which includes its revolutionary hinge that allows it to uniquely move 360 degrees and fold from laptop to tablet in one simple motion.

Running on a 3rd Generation Intel Core i5 processor, the new convertible device works in four modes of operation such as laptop, tablet, tent and stand wherein its keyboard automatically disables when the modes change.

Yoga is presented in its super slim 16.9-mm frame with a 13.3-inch high definition HD LED multi-touch display and eight hours of battery life.

Although it has already been available before the end of December 2012, Flores said that they expect Yoga to be available in Cebu through its Lenovo stores and retail partners in a week or two.

The 13-inch and 11-inch models are priced at P60,999 and P44,995 respectively.

Meanwhile, the 12.5-inch ThinkPad Twist offers business professionals the convertible technology they need for both their business and personal computing.

Francis Judan, manager for small and medium businesses, said that the Twist model is optimized for entrepreneurs, enabling them with the options to consume and create presentations whenever they want through the new convertible device.

Ideal for small business computing, Twist has a large storage up to 500 GB HDD, rescue recovery, all-day battery life, tablet-like quick resume from standby and the ThinkPad brand’s legendary keyboard, quality and reliability features.

It also has the Lenovo Solutions for Small Business powered by Intel Small Business Advantage and Lenovo Solution Center.

Like the Yoga 13, the ThinkPad Twist can convert into four operation modes like the Stand, a great position for work collaboration via the multi-touch screen.

It is available at Lenovo Exclusive Stores and authorized business partners at P57 990.

Lenovo is a $US30-billion personal technology company that serves customers in more than 160 countries, employs 27 000 worldwide and accounts 15.6 percent of the global PC market. (FREEMAN)
