CEBU, Philippines - Global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing giant Accenture officially opened its third delivery center in Cebu yesterday.
This brings to 15 the total number of sites opened by the company since it started its Philippine operation in 1985.
According to Accenture Philippines country managing director Manolito T. Tayag, the expansion of their Cebu operation is part of the company’s strategic plan to grow in the Philippines.
Accenture’s third delivery facility in Cebu is located at the 16-storey e-Bloc 2, occupying four floors of the newest BPO facility at the Cebu IT Park.
With over 28,000 employees in 15 sites across the country, the Philippine operation is the third largest in terms of head count in the Accenture chain, next to India and USA.
Tayag said the company is constantly exploring opportunities to grow and even evaluate options for further expansion not only in Metro Manila and Cebu, but also in other parts of the country.
“The expansion of our Cebu operation is a recognition of the availability of skills, and a show of confidence on Cebu’s capability to grow our business,” he said.
With its new facility in Cebu, Accenture boosts its capacity to provide high-quality Technology and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Management Consulting services to global clients, specifically in Europe, North America and Asia.
At a media briefing prior to the opening of Accenture’s delivery center at the e-Bloc 2, Tayag also announced that the company will open its 16th facility at McKinley Hills in Taguig City before the year ends.
“This is part of our unwavering commitment to help grow the IT and BPO industry in the Philippines,” he said.
Accenture Philippines is one of the major nodes of the company’s global network. While it has emphasized its commitment to grow in the Philippines in the BPO and technology services, it has also started to penetrate the country’s leading corporations, enticing them with its expertise in management consultancy.
Accenture has the widest range of IT (Systems Integration, Applications Outsourcing, Infrastructure outsourcing) and BPO (finance and accounting, health administration, customer contact, utilities, human resource, insurance, credit) services.
It opened its first Global Delivery Center in Cebu in 2007, and later its BPO arm operations. In 2010, the company opened its second facility at the Cybergate IT Center in Fuente Osmeña. (FREEMAN)
