BlackBerry sales in Cebu 30% higher than in Davao

CEBU, Philippines - Considering Cebu as one of the largest markets for BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), a grand eyeball event for BBM and other handset users will be conducted in the Queen City of the South for the first time.

Metro Events International Marketing and Events Director Daniel Rosario said that based on the surveys they had conducted; Cebu is 30 percent higher than Davao in terms of sales for BlackBerry and accounts 20-25 percent of the market share nationwide.

With such figures, he added that the event organizers decided to host the third year celebration in the province with P1 million as an investment.

Dubbed as “60 Degrees - The Amnezia Experience", the Grand BBM Eyeball Party is designed to provide a venue for BBM, iPhone and Android phone users to mingle and interact with fellow virtual contacts.

The event will be held on September 15 from 8 PM onwards at Amnezia Super Club, North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City Cebu.

It is presented by Metro Events International, SM CINEMA and Amnezia Super Club. 

With its targeted sales of 1,500 tickets, he noted that there is already a strong market reception as 300 tickets were sold to date.

Aside from Cebuanos, Rosario said that they also welcome various groups of BBM users from Visayas and Mindanao regions and further encouraged yuppies, young professionals and tech-savvy individuals to join the event.

He cited that there will also be shuttle services to be provided in Fuente Osmeña from 6 PM to 10 PM.

BBM Party 2012 is also presented by Black Swan Productions and supported by BlackBerry Pilipinas and Tiger Airways as its official carrier.

It will also feature a top-caliber line-up of disc jockeys from all over the country such as DJ’s Carlo Molina, DJ Jack Stone, DJ Marlon Orellano, DJ Clyde Harris, DJ Jenil Aspiras and International Model-DJ Callum David to be teamed-up with Cebu’s top fashion designers.

BBM grand eyeball events were also held in Makati in 2010 and at The Fort, Taguig last year.

Metro Events International is headquartered in Quezon City and will soon have a satellite office in Cebu to be located in Club Ultima on December of this year.  (FREEMAN)
