Entrepreneur expands niche; ventures into agri-business
CEBU, Philippines - Discovering vast potential on sustainability in agriculture, Cebu’s iron entrepreneur has expanded his horizons into agri-business.
Involved in various business lines such as RNC Marketing Philippines, Rhea Noemi Food Products and My Partners International Trading Inc., Rey Calooy takes pride as he ventures into a different market as an agri-preneur.
He is also the current president of Filipino-Cebuano Business Club Inc. (FCBI).
With an initial investment of P100,000, Calooy converted the lots he acquired from his ancestors into an integrated 1.5-hectare farm in Leyte and another 2-hectare in Bohol.
The vegetables he planted and the native chickens, hogs and ducks he raised are utilized to create value-added products and services.
He said that the harvests from the farm are used for the new food business that he and his wife Necitas, are currently into.
The food kiosk is called Ness Burger and Coffee which was recently opened last month in Lagtang, Talisay City.
Calooy cited that they serve burgers with patties made of organic chicken and veggie, chicken hotdogs, lechon and pork siomai from the hogs they raise and Peking ducks which are sold to high-end hotels in Cebu.
He added that they also offer fruit drinks and unlimited coffee which come in brewed, instant and mixed. — (FREEMAN)
