Floods and driving in the dark

The downpour Sunday night brought floods in the downtown area as expected.

When we posted a picture of the flood, many asked about the city’s drainage master plan.

We know there is one and that there are efforts to clean up the canals near the place where our office is located, but the efforts are not enough.

We hope that the comment of one person about the government waiting for somebody or a few people to die in the floods before it takes action would not become a reality.

Several people were again stranded because of the floods and the government is not moving fast enough to solve the problem.

Every week we receive complaints from readers about vehicles without lights that are running at night.

We still can’t understand how come there are so many drivers who do this and get away with it.

Where are the tough guys from Task Force Alpha, who are very eager to apprehend traffic violators?

Where are the CITOM enforcers and the traffic policemen?

We did see the SRP Police apprehend the driver of a truck that had no tail lights at the South Road Properties, but that was the only time we saw something like that happen.

The drivers, who refuse to turn on their headlights, are probably too dumb to know that turning on the headlights will not only help you see, but more importantly will help others see you.

When accidents happen, even the driver who is not at fault will go through so much trouble.

We know that there is still a body running the affairs of the SRP, but how come nobody seems to be taking care of the promotional posters on the causeway that have been detached from the lampposts?

We noticed that many of the posters are dangerous to motorists as they are dangling from the posts.

Who should remove them for the safety of the public?

We would like to commend the service personnel of Toyota at the Mandaue Reclamation Area especially Al Cansancio for great customer service.

We had our vehicle fixed after a fender-bender and Al made the whole process quite easy. We thought at first he was only doing it because we are from the media, but while waiting for our vehicle to be buffed, we noticed that the service to other customers and the attention given to their concerns were similar.
