BPI rolls out Express Link Mobile

- Ehda Dagooc -

CEBU, Philippines - The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) has introduced “BPI Express Link Mobile” to meet the demand for corporations including SMEs (Small and Medium Enterprises) in taking advantage of the mobile technology in doing bank transactions.

Recently introduced in Cebu, BPI’s Express Link Mobile is the country’s first mobile facility specially designed for the banking needs of business customers. It allows customers to inquire on their deposit account balances and approve financial transactions using mobile phones.

The facility, which is part of the bank’s eLink feature, was introduced in October last year in Manila. Now, BPI is promoting the technology to Cebuano business owners, while mobile technology is becoming one of the essential gadgets that help not only personal effeciency, but also business productivity while cutting operational cost.

BPI senior vice president and head for centralized operations group, Ma. Corazon S. Remo said the facility promises full security tools, using industry encryption standard.

At present, about nine companies in Cebu are now using the bank’s mobile banking technology. It targets to attract more corporations and SMEs to avail of this technology, Remo said.

BPI corporate clients who are already using the Express Link features, can easily add the mobile banking to their usage. This is important, Remo said as business owners, and corporation’s executives are constantly on mobile, and that checking, approving financial matters for the company could be done through cellular phones.

Mobile device that are capable of uploading the “BPI Express Link Mobile”, include Java-based phones produced after 2005, Android, iPhones, Blackberry, Nokia, among others, provided internet connection is on.

To date, there are at least 2,500 users of BPI Express Link Mobile, Remo said. This is expected to double in number of usage as people are now cellular phone savvy, not only on personal purposes, but moreso on business advantages.

“Banking must be empowering. We affirm our credo in making it easy—now we are making banking—mobile,” she said.

Transactions that can be made through mobile banking include; fund transfer, BIR and Bureau of Customs, Pag-ibig, SSS, Philhealth payments; fund release approval, among others.

“BPI is once again at the forefront in using technology to help businesses manage their case more effeciently with this introduction of mobile banking,” said Remo.

“Being on the go doesn’t mean business banking transactions need to take the back seat. Customers can start the day with a quick look at their deposit account balances, approve the company’s payroll during a business meeting and play around of golf without missing out on tax and other regulatory payments. With Express Line Mobile, customers can authorize transactions anytime, anywhere and while enjoying the security ExpressLink is known for,” said Remo. (FREEMAN)
