TESDA accredits Wendy Mendoza's training center
CEBU, Philippines - After making millions in pursuing his passion in beauty and hairdressing for over 40 years, Wendy Mendoza is now sharing her expertise to the next generation beauticians, by establishing a training facility in Cebu.
Mendoza, who just came from a long professional practice in the United States, came home to build the Hairdressing/Beauty Care Training and Assessment Center, along with the re-opening of her beauty parlor in Sangi,Talisay City.
Upon returning to Cebu from the US last year, Mendoza was commissioned by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), as one of the few Beauty Care and Hair Dresser assessors for trainers’ skill’s accreditation.
Notwithstanding, the profit that she may get from going back on business through re-opening her own beauty shop in Cebu, and the training center, she added that what is important is she could pass on the talent that has been gifted to her.
With an intensive three-month training on beauty care and hairdressing, with proper accreditation and formal diploma approved by TESDA, one can already start up a parlor business.
In an interview with Mendoza, she said that while beauty and hairdressing is an all-time lucrative business, there is a need for the young generation, especially those who have innate passion and skill to take professional know-how, as opportunities is not only limited locally, but it could bring them to different countries overseas.
Wendy Mendoza is a strong brand in terms of beauty care and hairdressing service in Cebu since 1970. Her first mall-based parlor facility located at the Robinson’s department store in Fuente Osmeña was one of the pioneers in offering mall-based beauty and hairdressing facility in Cebu that made a success from 1980s to middle of 2000, and made expansions and established six branches in Cebu, and in Manila.

Instead of retiring and enjoy her life while coming home to Cebu, Mendoza decided to share her talent, as well as give quality parlor services that are affordable and pocket-friendly across social status.
While in the past, Wendy Mendoza’s services were synonymous to Class A clients. Today, she said she will give everybody an opportunity to get quality hair dressing and beauty services, while teaching the young to find the path she used to take.
Mendoza started her small beauty shop in Urgello, Cebu City in 1970, with only one pair of scissors and guts as her investments. She later made her first millions when she opened her mall-based beauty shop in Robinsons in 1984.
Today, Mendoza is considered as one of the legends in the beauty and hairdressing industry in Cebu, with countless of awards have been given to recognize her talent over the years.
Other award bodies that recognized Mendoza, aside from TESDA, include; the Hairdressers and Cosmetologists Association of the Philippines, Manila International Hairstyling and Make Up Competition, among others.
Mendoza has several competency skills accreditation given by TESDA, in beauty care and hairdressing techniques.
