MANILA, Philippines– President Benigno Aquino III on Tuesday appointed businessman Fernando Zobel de Ayala to the board of the National Museum.
Zobel de Ayala, the chief operating officer and president of Ayala Corp., replaces former Metropolitan Museum of Manila president Corazon Alvina on the National Museum board, representing the private sector. His term will end on March 24, 2014.
The Zobel de Ayala family is known for being avid supporters of Philippine art and culture with the Ayala Museum and the Filipinas Heritage Library, both in Makati City.
Aquino also appointed Development Bank of the Philippines board member Bernardine T. Siy to serve the unexpired term ending on June 30, 2012, replacing businessman Antonio Jose U. Periquet. (FREEMAN)
