CEBU, Philippines - The Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. will work together with the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) for the construction of a new police station in Barangay Parian and a water system in Barangay Bacayan. Aboitiz Foundation President Jon Ramon Aboitiz, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, Sr. Supt. Melvin Buenafe, representatives from Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and CCPO officials led the signing of a memorandum of agreement for the undertaking last April 13. A groundbreaking activity was also held beside the old Parian Police Station.
Present also during the signing were representatives from RAFI, City Savings Bank, AboitizLand and officials from the eleven police precincts.
This will be the second time that Aboitiz Foundation will construct a police station. The first was the construction of the Mabolo Police Station and its fire department building.
In his speech, Aboitiz mentioned that the project was in support to the Adopt – a – Precinct program of the Cebu City Government with the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
“This project in Parian will be our contribution in making sure that our local police force will have a good command post. This will ensure that our friends, the police, will be efficient and excellent in providing peace and order services to our people,” Aboitiz said.
He also challenged the Cebu City Police Office to take good care of the new building and to fully use and maximize the building that will be given to them.
Mayor Michael Rama and Sr. Supt. Melvin Buenafe, on the other hand, expressed their thanks for the project.
The design of the new Parian Police Station building will complement the rich heritage of Barangay Parian and will provide conducive working station for the police officers.
The project costs 2.64 million. Construction will commence after the agreement signing and is estimated to finish in August. The building will be turned over to the CCPO after the construction.
Also on the same day, the Foundation signed a memorandum of agreement with Bacayan barangay officials for the construction of the level II water system in Barangay Bacayan, a mountain barangay in the northern part of Cebu City.
