iTrabaho.com taps Facebook to ease access for job hunters
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu-based online job portal iTrabaho.com has introduced the first in the Philippines’ job listing platform by taking advantage of the social networking, specifically Facebook to make it easier for job seekers to connect with employers.
The iTrabaho.com, which is owned and managed by Silicon-Valley based entrepreneur John Kim, through the US-registered company Now Media Group, is so far the first online job portal in the Philippines, if not in the world, that purposely created an application in Facebook, designed only for job hunters, and the job providers.
After six months of operation, iTrabaho now registered a total of 414 employers operating mostly in the Philippines, wanting to hire hundreds of people from across industries such as customer service representatives (call centers), marketing and sales, medical professionals, programmers, among others.
According to Kim, the company has decided to create a unique Facebook application, this program is created by Cebuano developers.
This program, aside from its traditional website the iTrabaho.com, targets the growing Facebook users in the Philippines, of which large part of them are also seeking for employment, and right jobs for their skills.
Through the Facebook application that can be easily accessed by searching the iTrabaho address (search engine) automatically stores the applicants’ data-base that will be viewed by the company’s growing employer registrants.
“We want to get ahead, and embrace the power of social networking,” said Kim a press interview yesterday.
The company, which has existing partnership with the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (Cedfit), and different universities around the region boasts of its over 50 thousand available data-base of job seekers from various professional and skills’ background.
The Facebook application which was launched online early this week, has already recorded a 150 percent increase of activity and registrants daily, Kim said.
At least 500 unique visitors entered to the account a day, he said adding that this is expected to rise in the next few days.
iTrabaho.com do away from complexity of applying via the traditional online job sites, and now gives applicants the convenience by linking with Facebook, SMS, and Twitter.
Already, the portal also provides “Text-To-Apply” feature.
Kim also maintains a company in Silicon Valley, California USA, the Human Capital, which is a market-entry firm that has been operating for years. It provides informative data for companies wanting to expand in other territories or in other countries. (FREEMAN)
