CEBU, Philippines - As technology becomes the main backbone for companies to survive and compete in the globalization business environment, Microsoft Philippines is zooming in its focus on helping the businesses in the Visayas and in Mindanao.

The Bill Gates-led software solution giant, is now hoping to grow its business outside the Metro Manila zone, noting that despite its constant nationwide marketing campaign over the years, only 10 percent of the company’s overall business is contributed by Cebu, despite the growth of Information Technology and Communication (ICT) sector, and improved awareness of industries to maximize technology.

In a press conference, Microsoft Philippines managing director John Bessey said that because of this the company is strengthening its presence in Cebu, and other parts of Southern Philipines by appointing two partners in Visayas and Mindanao, in order give full after-sales services to growing clients.

In the Visayas, Microsoft is partnering with MSI-ECS as its offfical Market Development Partner (MDP), with WSI is for Davao.

Through its Geo Expansion Program, which aims at enabling Visayan businesses to utilize the best Microsoft technology innovations, Bessey said the company expects double-digit growth for Microsoft business this year, driven by its aggressive penetration in the regional markets.

As an MDP, MSI-ECS is investing its dedicated sales and technical resources to expand coverage and better address the needs of small and midsized organizations in these locations. —   (FREEMAN)
