NCR to expand Cebu facility
CEBU, Philippines - High value technology giant, NCR Cebu Development Center Inc. recently announced its expansion plans in Cebu owing to the good supply of highly skilled engineers in both software and hardware developments.
NCR Cebu managing director Jaideep Agrawal said that although there is still no definite number of employees the company plans to hire in the next few months, what is certain is the Cebu facility, which is the only one in the Philippines, is going to expand in number.
At present, NCR is employing over 800 people, doing back-end and service support for its clientele base abroad, as well as development of its software and hardware products.
“There are a lot of opportunities for growth here (Cebu),” said Agrawal in an interview recently.
Although the Cebu site is also serving technical support and other back-end services, its strength is research and development, with rich supply of good people here, he added.
Agrawal mentioned that Cebu facility is one of the most growing facilities of NCR outside of the United States. NCR is present in 150 countries with a total of 22 thousand employees.
NCR is an assisted-service and point-of-sale solutions in over 150 countries worldwide. Its core industries are financial and retail.
The extensive NCR solutions portfolio also serves the travel, healthcare, food and hospitality, entertainment and gaming, and government and public sector industries
NCR has been a locator at the Asiatown IT Park since February 2004 when they first occupied 1,512-sq m space at the eOffice. The IT Park is owned and managed by Ayala Land Inc. subsidiary Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corporation (CPVDC).
The Cebu operations is part of the entire company’s brain in supporting and developing assisted and self-service solutions, backed with comprehensive support services, address the needs of retail, financial, travel, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, gaming and public sector organizations in more than 100 countries.
NCR has other R&D facilities all over the world, including Japan, India, and other countries in Europe.
As of this time, the Cebu R&D facility is focused on developing solution equipment for retail sector such as Point-Of-Sales (POS), self-service machines, touch-screen payment machines, fast-lane retail solutions, among others.

Soon, the Cebu facility will participate in the development of other solution machines in travel and entertainment, such as self-service DVD rental machine, DIY movie ticketing machine, among others.
