Fluor Corporation opens office in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - One of the world’s largest engineering design procurement and construction management company, Fluor Corporation, has set up its office in Cebu, to take advantage of the rich manpower resources for its growing worldwide clients.
The company, which is headquartered in Dallas, Texas has been in the Philippines for 25 years now with its first knowledge outsourcing facility located in Metro Manila.
In an interview with Fluor Company group president for energy and chemicals Peter Oosterveer, he said that the Cebu office will be needing at least 300 people, mostly engineers before the end of 2012.
The Cebu office, located at the TGU Building in Cebu Asia Town IT Park, is initially operating with 75 people, and by the end of the 2011, it targets to hit 150 manpower count.
Fluor Corporation is one of the world’s largest publicly traded engineering, procurement, construction, maintenance (EPC&M) and project management companies. Over the past centry, Flour, through its operating subsidiaries, has becoming a trusted global leader in providing exceptional services and technical knowledge.
In Cebu, the company will be needing mostly people with engineering background, from chemical, civil, mechanical, electronics engineering.
Oosterveer said the company has been looking for off-shore sites in different locations around the world, and it ended up in Cebu, due to favorable factors, good work ethics and flexibility of Filipino works, and the Philippines’ culture that easily adjust to an American company.
“We are definitely expanding our footprint in the Philippines,” said Oosterveer during the company’s official opening for its Cebu operation.
With over 1,000 people working at its Makati offshore office, the company is now entering Cebu, providing employment opportunities specifically for engeneering professionals.
Today, Fluor Philippines has performed distributed project execution with more than 20 Fluor offices and has completed stand-alone EPC&M and project management work as well.
Through the years, the company has supplied the services for all types of facilities, including refineries, petrochemicals, FPSO floating production units, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, micro-electronics, and mining, among others.
Like any Fluor offices in the world, Fluor Philippines is equipped to lead the support in creating valuable solutions for clients and seamlessly execute large, challenging and complex projects in the world.

Oosterveer hopes that with the Cebu facility opening, the company will be able to boost its penetration in the Asian market, as the company noted a tremendous growth in Asian over the years.
Fluor also has similiar outsourcing facilities in other Asian countries like in New Delhi in India, and Shanghai in China.
